i got a 85 2wd short bed last week. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=296680

found a 03 5.3/4l60e combo from a 2wd just a bit under 100k miles. has comp and harnness and all parts needed to swap.

figure 2k to my door is good deal for all of it.

i know i will need to swap in tbi tank and swap in diffrent pump to make up pressure diffrence. also add return line to tank.

what all is required in harnness mods to run plug n play basics. ?

anyone know of oil pan clearence on 2wd problems ?

i dont need cat's for my use and also egr if it makes a diffrence on fuel mileage i will leave it on .

mabye a simple cam swap and diffrent intake for more flow/power if there is cheep simple mods .

non a/c truck so no need for a/c comp in the way on lower pass side . basic set of adaptor motor mounts required yes .

thanks for the help and i will start reading up on the swaps other have done. :thumb:

just read y5mgisi short version thread good info there.

found some info last few nights.

need 2wd tranny tail shaft or tranny its self.

then reading others threads a bit need air bleader port for head coolent tubes.

also few have tryed diffrent mounts and had good to o.k. results.

my plan is to drop in and run . then upgrade a bit as time goes on so i got some dirty dingo parts coming. http://www.dirtydingo.com/store/index.php

2wd 73-87 chevy c-series truck mounts
water pump spacers WITH air bleader hose port in them.
ideler pulley relocation bracket and diffrent belt.

these will let me run car water pump for diffrent hose outlet and also bleader port for head tubes. then later be able to bolt on bigger/better intake with no problems.

lookin for exaust stuff. found truck manifolds should be no problem .

motor mount plates get 1" forword to 2" rearword adjustment for motor/trans in frame. and also use stock truck oil pan with them so no car pan needed.

more info to come . and read up on :doah:

WTF? Why has no one replied to this thread?! Good job on doing up your harness! Do you still have questions?

:sign17:thats what i wana know ? :dunno:

we asked for this section for ever and now no one is using it. :sign15:

and thanks on the modify . it wasnt that bad at all. need to merge the pinks for key power together yet and run a few wires to the back of the harnness to end at the top of the intake to go to the firewall and in the cab for park/n switch / brake switch / cruise control as its dbw and comes with it :woot: / tack and speedo signals. then its tape it up time and wrap it back up with the lom that will fit a lot lighter now as there is prob 25 or so wires gone. could have droped more if no tranny and also cable throttle over electric .

found out the oil level sensor in the pan is a 20mm x 1.5 pitch oil drain plug from any parts store just get with a gasket to seal it.

this is for guys doing stand alone stuff with option removed from harnness.

also some make a plug with 1/8" pipe thread in center to install stuff like temp probe for oil temp gauge.

Nice I was going to research that because I want to remove mine. :thumb:

What car guy needs a level sensor anyway.

heard its around 20 bucks or so for the one drilled / tapped .

going to make my own as i have a drill press and nice tap/die set. :D
