Will running 5:13 gears and 35" tires make my freeway experience a nightmare? This is a 14FF locked and Dana44 open.

I would think youd get a killer launching type effect out of the hole :D i was gonna run that setup at one point and time, i think it would be fine. IF you have a 700r4.

now i could be wrong but i had a tranny shop tell me one time, that with the 700r4, 35s and 513s..you would have a nice crawl ability, and when the over drive kicked in, it would be equal to 410s...
don't know how true that is tho..

actually it's way taller than 4.10 ..

Fourth gear: 0.7 x T-case high: 1 x Differential: 5.13 = Final Drive: 3.59

i would do it ..i'm gonna run 4.56's with 33"s

I am running 4.88's and 35's, I wish I had went with 5.13's. At 65mph I am turning about 2200 rpm and up around 75mph I am turning around 2800.
I say if you have a 700r4 then go for it.

i cant wait to have 5:13s driving my 36's

the 3:42s are just killing me

35" AND 3.08
Yea I need to re-gear. I haven't put my truck in overdrive in the 2 weeks I've had the tires. Still waiting for that cheap D60 to swap in before I do gears

if you do alot of 80+mph commuting i would go with 4.88

otherwise 5.13 with a 700 that has a functioning lockup converter would be sweet. especially for a weezy stock engine.

I am running 5.13s in my 60 and 14 bolt with a 454 turbo 350 208 2500 stall convertor and at 65 I am turning 2900 rpm with 39.5 boggers/swampers

yep, go 5.13 and don't ever look back. the 700 has a nice low 1st gear (for an auto) as well, so you'll have good 'launching' ability.

I've got a 1954 M37 Dodge (Chev is dd and heavy wheeler, M37 project truck) with 5.83 diffs. I plan on running a 350/700r4 and Q78-16 Swampers.

No reason not to run 5.13s, if/since you are gonna regear, on a truck with an OD trans. OD will bring the gearing down so much like others have said, bringin it to a reasonable level...plus it gives for flexibility if you ever wanna go bigger...even 44s if you wanted (not that i would ever do that). Im gonna be gettin a 14b in a few weeks, gonna gear it to 5.13s, and run my 33s for a lil while...its all i got and can't afford the whole 9 yards at once. It will be a fun lil ride to work and back and i shouldn't have to worry about freeway driving with it...I wouldn't want to run 5.13s with 35s if you do A LOT of freeway driving...but if you do a lot of wheeling and city driving, i say go for it.

WOW.. wish I had overdrive...

I churn 3000rpm's @ 74mph!!!!!! hmmmm nv4500 time???

oh yeah 4.56's and 40" hawgs (38.8 true)
