52" spring swap

I can't imagine that working in the real world. Report back after a test drive. Try to bind it up in a ditch or something.

Curious to see it with tires stuffed/drooped. Also, is the plan to keep the swaybar on all the time?
It's resting on jackstands under the axle, not sure of the difference between that and tires installed, nothing is sticking out to the side. Yes, the sway bar will likely not be disconnected.

You can adjust toe easily yourself with a tape measure, set it to about 1/8 toe in (1/8” smaller in the front than back) want about 0 toe when moving down the road.

Finally got back on the K5 and finished my tilt swap, Borgeson Shaft swap and swapped in some new EZ Ride springs, we’ll see just how EZ they are…

The main part is this crossover kit with my sway bar. With the steering now hooked up, I was able to cycle full left and right and everything appears to have plenty of room. Pics of this are hard to take for some reason to really show accurately. Everything is fully bolted/tightened in place.

The space between the leaf spring and the crossover was much better than it looks here and after the EZ Ride swap its even better since the spring pack is not as tall.

I can see how this would not work without the drop brackets in the front and ORD disconnects in the back. I’ll take it for a drive tomorrow and see how it does. Needs an alignment as the toe I guess is off? Tires are slightly splayed out (measuring and comparing front and back rotor measure.

Is the crossover rubbing the passenger side spring?? Looks to be touching.

The issue is that when the suspension cycles the sway bar will typically touch / hit / bind with the drag link, there's a reason it's recommended to remove the sway bar when going to crossover. ORD does offer a fairly new product that is a modified version of the stock sway bar that will work with crossover steering.

In the event I do run into problems, I'll switch to the ORD swaybar, it will be one of the cheaper things I've bought on this upgrade cycle. For a street beast, I'm hoping I'll be good.

Why does anyone switch to crossover steering?

Charlie
Because when running flexy suspension Offroad, the push-pull doesn’t work. Have to switch to crossover. Then that creates another issue that pushes the axle side to side. Then one 4-links….

I can appreciate it was a whole page ago, but this is why I asked my question to start the thread.

"My reasons for considering the swap is better ride quality and I need about another inch to level it out, a bit high in the rear after 3" EZ Rides and Shackle Flip. I was about to pull the trigger on some EZ Rides for front, but all of the commentary I came across seems to say they don't really ride that much different than stock. The 52" install seems pretty straightforward."

When I asked questions about my wandering steering after additional lift/Ez-Inch move forward/axle swap, everyone's answer was switch to crossover steering.

Why do I feel like I'm having to justify my questions?

Charlie

Ummm you’re first post said you already installed crossover steering, you said you had a D44 up front with crossover steering and hadn’t driven it since the crossover install yet. So I’m confused

You posted up of why anyone goes with crossover, one answer was because of offroad manners. You said that it's a street beast. You don't need crossover for the street, and it won't affect ride, in my opinion. I do like how mine drives on the street with crossover, though.

We are telling you that your sway bar will hit the drag link on a bump on the street. This could be dangerous.

We aren't trying to be a$$hats, just telling you that a bunch of us know from experience that your draglink doesn't have enough clearance from the swaybar. Please be careful on your test drive.

You would actually have more clearance on the springs and at the drag link with a straight one vs the "s" bend one. Only then there would be less angle movement available in the drag link ends.
Only testing would tell if that would give you enough clearance at the swaybar and not bother the drag link ends when th suspension droops.

Your crossover steering facilitates repositioning the axle forward. ' Spring' for some custom springs as they will simplify y our modifications and probably perform better. Given ORD's location and prices, I'm guessing they partnered with Alcan Springs in Grand Junction, CO. I have bought several sets from Alcan and been well pleased. I wanted to push my axle as far forward as possible and Alcan built me some assemetrical springs, curvature/lift in the front half and fairly flat on the rear half of the springs. I already had the B-52 kit on my Blazer. These performed very well.
