OK, well I managed to unfox the engine tilter after some messin around. What a debacle...I really thought I had more than enough room to work with seeing as I had the CPP "3/4" forward" mounts and this car could get a sbc in stock form. I ended up having to remove the vacuum wiper motor and some other shifty stuff, then re-jig the lifting apparatus. Then I had to work a 6 day week, and that really cuts into wrenching time!!
Finally I was about to get this engine bolted into the car, a real milestone moment!! Except the Energy Suspension motor mounts I bought were wrong.

Turns out there are two styles, tall and narrow, and short and wide. I got the first, and needed the second. CPP should have made a noteto save dummies like me from finding the wrong mounts.
So, I got the shorter mounts bolted up and the damn thing still wouldn't quite drop down into the towers. Energy Suspension has these pre-load plates...but with them installed it was no go. I had a good look at how the mount was constructed and the poly etc. I then made an executive decision and left the plates out.
Finally I was rewarded and able to get the ARP bolts through the whole assembly officially marrying the engine to the car.
Money shot!!
It is super tight at the firewall. Getting the distributor cap on is a real trick...valve covers have 1/2" clearance.
In todays order I also got some "Neighbor Haters"
3" Cherry Bomb Salute muffs, in stainless. A value at $40. Might be a little loud...lol
