So, my Calvert Racing Mono-leafs showed up. I was a little surprised, because the pic on Summit showed split mono-leafs, but regular mono leafs showed up. I'm not too mad, good quality mono leafs are just fine...but this isn't the first time Summit has got the pic wrong, or misleading.
I got some time out there last night, and put my new DeWalt "mid torque" impact to work. I fully expected to have to cut the U-bolts, and all the spring bolts. That impact is a beast though, rattled off the u bolt nuts, and the front spring eye bolts no problem. Could not touch the impact socket after though, it was hot enough to burn you.
Got back at it early this morning and ran hardlines for the rear brakes on the new diff, wrestled the old diff out of it's old home and then spent a while getting the old springs out of there. You can really tell this car only spent 8-9 years on the road and the rest inside a garage. Even the swpring bushings were in decent shape still, and with a bit of prying I was able to get them out without fire or other destructive means.
As tempting as it is to sling the new diff under there, I have some shit work I want to get done first. Mostly scrape and paint while I have the room and access. Should have it under the car tomorrow. Cal-Tracs and some other stuff should be here next week. I should be able to measure for a driveshaft by next weekend!
Pics tomorrow!
