6.0's here. What am I getting into? Pics added 10-30-08

I really don't want to run a/c. I would rather have the space where the evap box is for something else. But man it sure does get hot and humid here during the summer. Maybe while I'm repainting the truck I'll paint the top white. That'll probably keep it cooler in there. Anyone know where the TAC module is located on an '08? I'm needing one for this swap but I can't find it. My 05 silverado has it between the brake booster and left fender. I looked there on an 08 silverado and it wasn't there. I wondering if it's all parts of the pedal on a '08 because my '05 has different pedal that an '08.
 
did you ever get this swap done? I am looking into a 5.3 or 6.0 swap for my k5 for later on down the road.
 
Yeah. How the he11 di you find a brand new 6.0 for 1500? You should be buying them by the truckload and reselling them.
 
I can get my hands on an LQ9 and 4L80E for 2200 I just need something to put it in.
 
I would jump on that if funds are available. I just looked on evilbay and they have dozens of LQ4's for around $1500

The motor he got is worth 4k from gm.... am I missing something? Most junkyards will charge you 1500 for a 70k mile 6.0 with NO accessories(AC, alternator, starter, etc). They also don't have harnesses or ecm's.

No. Its got the accessories and ecm, but it had somewhere between 40 and 50k on it.
 
Well, my 6.0 showed up today. It's not the one I ordered. The one I was supposed to get was out of an 07 3/4 ton pickup. What I got is out of an 08 van( I hope that doesn't matter). Got complete engine, under hood harness, computer. They forgot to send MAF, and pedal but are sending it. Man that's alot of wires on that thing. Will I need any of the under dash harness( I hope not). They cut the braided fuel line about an inch from the fuel rail( I hope that doesn't matter either), and the cut the emmision line coming off the intake right behind the evep service port( Hope that doesn't matter). I guess I'll need a new dipstick and oil filler neck, as these stick out pretty far. Should I hold out for a truck motor or just keep this one? This motor does not have any miles on it. Or maybe I should just keep the 350 in it for simplicity sake. Opinions? Advice? Thanks.
