6.2 diesel with an SM465 in a K5?

He argued with me for 5 hours that it was "in like flint" not "in like Flinn". All the while I made a 2 hour trip on my vacation to help him put his 396 in his blazer. Pretty sure he argues with himself. He only really is pushing it because we have been talking about my dually 6.2 and if I should build it or swap it. He wants a 90/91 6.2 4 speed 241 silverado blazer.

It was available. I met a guy in Idaho Falls. Bought an 86 brand new ordered with a 465 and a 6.2. He is the original owner was very proud of his truck called it a one of a kind. He went into the dealer and said this is what I want and I will pay full list price. They got it. If it was converted it was not at the dealership he watched them drive it off the hauler.

So, you ask the question and then kennyw gives you an answer. You then tell him he is wrong. Why ask the question?

I asked the question six months ago. It's alright, some people aren't very good at reading.

I can read. You are the one who is more missing the point. You ask a question, but dismiss the responses as false. Why ask for responses if you already feel you have the answer (even though you appear to be incorrect).

I asked the question 6 months ago. I have done research since then to find my answer. I stumbled across this post last night while looking for something. I figured I should post the answer seeing as I found it since then. What point am I missing? The point where I couldn't find an answer in six months time???

The 6.2 was NEVER available with the SM465 in a Blazer unfortunately.

All civilian 6.2 Blazers had TH700R4/4L60’s, and all D10 M1009 CUCV’s had TH400’s.

Anyone that someone has seen has been swapped.

Most likely related to the ten bolt not being able to deal with the really low rpm input torque being multiplied by the 6.55:1 first gear. That combo was available in the 3/4 tons and one tons for sure. It's where I found the 6.2/465 I installed in my 81 jimmy.

They were available in K10 pickups.

i know of a factory short bed stepside 4x4 with 6.2 and the car/dodge 4speed combo . . .

so it cant be the 10bolts weakness problem .

Yup I knew a guy that had one as well… k10 short box stepside. I think it was a 82.
Never seen a k5 with that set up.

I saw a 6.2L K5 with dual 465 transmissions when I was living in Moab. Wish I had pics. Rear shaft was super short with a CV and pretty much maxed out for angles at ride height. He said he took a dump truck 465 with a larger input shaft and cut that down and mated it to the output of the front 465. Had a box looking adapter fabbed up between the two. Not sure how practical it was. He was from Dinosaur, CO tiny town in the middle of no where so nothing better to do I guess.

The A833/NP833 does not have granny gear, so it's not going to cause the same torque multiplication issue that you might get with an SM465.

But pre-83 all half tons had 12-bolt rears right?
Brother and I took a 3.73 12b out of 6.2/465 k5 about 8yrs ago in a junkyard. Can’t swear it was factory though
