6.5 swap (parts gathering phase)

Before you rip out the engine and tranny, you MUST treat yourself to a few
burnouts with the bed off first!.:D..its great fun and nothing beats watching the duallies smoke when you floor it...with no weight back there you can spin them in every gear probably, with little chance of hurting anything except the tread depth on the tires..when I took the fleetside bed off my 1974 C-10 with a 454 & Th400,I drove it to the place where the "new to it" bed was..

I had a blast burning the tires off it all the way up to 60 mph...felt like a top fuel dragster with no bed on it.:D..stopping it was SCARY though, someone cut me off in traffic ,and I learned quickly a truck with no bed SLIDES instead of stopping!..darn near soiled myself,I missed the dumba$$ by about 2"!..:eek1:

You think that is fun. Try a big rig tractor without the trailer. .. [emoji43]
1650 lbs of torque and no weight. ..

I gotta start this swap soon. We're moving in a few months and I can not take a parts vehicle along.

I found somebody on CL that I may be able to get a 6.2 rad and hydro brake booster from.

Russ, you wouldn't happen to have those hydro pedals anymore would ya?

Just saw this now -- Nope, long gone!

Well thanks for responding. I thought maybe so, I was searching 6.5 swap posts and saw you talking to somebody about them.

Still searching. The craigslist guy hasn't called back yet...

or all that braking power with no weight!

Brakes can't work when the ass end is bouncing in the air. Tapped a ladies car while bob tailing years back.

No front brakes either...(1986)
