64 Vette….Rebuild 2.0

Anyway. Lots of ways to build a drag car. We need more information.
Tube chassis car? Drag only? Or still street able. What the plan Zim?

I watched a friend of mine running Stock Eliminator in NHRA fight that rear suspension for years since they had to run it. It definitely is not a drag friendly design

Needs to go to the scrapper for that application. Kind of like that wheel...
 
The chrome bumper cars were the best of 68-82’s. I had a 71 (crashed car that I ended ip selling to get funds for the 64). Also had a 74 L-82/4spd 3.55 gears, that was a pretty fun car to cruise in, but plagued with problems.
I might make a birthday present out of the wheel for my son in law...he likes that ghetto crap.
The rear diff isnt the best for drags, but Ive seen them run 9’s when properly setup. They are much more expensive to set up though. The 3.08’s will be fine for a long haul in it....like Hot Rod powertour! Much better than the 3.90 rear in it now.
 
Tore the guts out today....seats were already gone. Got 3 of the 8 body bolts out...going to cut some glass to get at a couple of them.
Pile of goods so far....but not much change...dammit

How would that front section of Corvette frame and suspension be on say a 64 Chev truck!? :whistle:

I know a guy that used Transam subframe front ends on hot rods and trucks from the 40s /60s Really nice update.
That's about the perfect setup for the 64 Zim is planning on getting. Run the irs and everything.... I got a 81 f body front clip for my 51 Chevy. If I every get to it.:cool:
 
the spindles and outward are going on my Vette, to get the disc brake setup. The rear diff is supposed to be a rebuilt 3.08 unit. That would work great for my Vette for a cruise. Probably try to salvage the PS system too. The frame is mangled twisted, torn...pretty worthless from the footwell forward. It hit hard enough that it popped and tore the rear quarter panels behind the rear tires. I might salvage the back half.
