64 Vette….Rebuild 2.0

These two pics are my grandson. Age 3 and almost 9. Need to get another when he's 15!
the hair colors are for his flag football team. Little shit is pretty good, he scored 3 touchdowns and had four pulled flags last week. Its pretty awesome to watch them play!

Changed a halfshaft Friday night, another problematic ujoint. Found the outer flange to be bent which was eating up the joint. Put one in from that 79 I got for parts. It has two nice solid Spicers on it. Greased the caps and bolted it in.
Finally took it to the track yesterday.
3 runs with a best of 12.67/112. A slight tire spin.
After the first two passes it started smoking blue after shifting…about a second after the gear change it would have some blue coming out of the exhaust on both sides for half second, then clear up. Shifting at 6700.
Did this on both shift changes. Not sure if its sucking in through valve seals/guides, the rear block vent canister/pcv or what? Will need to investigate…probably start with a plug check. Plugs have been in there since the powertour in 2012.

My guess get down the track for a good time and not waste the run with a red light. Though either one I think still gives you a full print out no?

Damn I bet she looks good going down track.

It was just test and tune…no eliminations, so it didnt matter at all.
and I haven’t raced in 12-15 years..:doah:
As long as the first yellow comes on, you’ll get a measured run.
just for the record, I pushed it and my last run got this slip…thought sure it would be red when I left, but saw the green come on!

I’m not bustin your chops, just curious if you have a strategy. Wish I had a car capable of making the best of a track.

Nothing special, but its fun to get on the track again!

Running good Dave, nice runs! Glad to see you at the track. Sounds good!

Your MPH is saying it has a better ET in it, what tires were you running? Just the street tires?

Goodyear Eagle Sport 225/60…just some street tires.
I want to get my new outer axles/trailing arm mods done before switching to anything else.

My 60’ has always been slow, which helps control the skinny tire spin, but hurts the et. I have a 750 vac sec on it now with a light spring, but have a 700 dbl pump 4778 I want to try on it as well. I leave from an idle.

That's even better with those tires man! Some good tires will really drop your ET, assuming it doesn't break an axle or something. Will you be good to go with the new upgrades on those axles and center section?

I will be consistently safe up to 500 flywheel hp on street tires with the new outers. Factory inners and outers are 17 spline, the new Toms axles are 31 spline and slightly bigger diameter. The only thing factory about the outer assemblies will be the bearing supports, and caliper brackets.
The differential housing and carrier are a polished and blueprinted factory 8.2 unit with Toms 30spline inner axles, and 12 bolt spiders and cross shaft. Carrier, Ring and Pinon all cryo treated.
