64 Vette….Rebuild 2.0

Have you tried increasing jetting to say 74/84 and see if it likes it?

How much vacuum does it make at idle? Can you change the power valve so it opens quicker?

I'm all about big blocks, but if its going to be 427 ci, I would rather have a small block, it's lighter than a 427 big block at the same cid.

If its going to be a big block it should be 454 at a minimum, and a 489 or bigger cost about the same if you are building it.

I love big blocks, but in this scenario I agree with the small block.

Or these SBC heads could work with the right pistons, cam, intake, headers, etc...that would confuse some people...

Put the sidepipes back on for a little cruising w my grandson yet this year. Heading to the drivein carshow at Gilmores museum to hang out with a few hundred other like minded individuals.

@folkenheath

regarding tires….

Do you carry them?
What sizes are available? Think small…Im running a 26.5 x 8.2 tire right now, maybe 28x9 after I get the offset arms and narrowed spring on the car.

Make sure you get cozy with the rule book concerning slicks and stuff

I can get them through my distributor yes. Right now there is still a limited supply.

A larger diameter will have more traction but is also like using a taller gear so it may slow you down a tad. They do make 26 x 8 and 26 x10" tires.

I would use a M/T or Hoosier.

Would you want DOT or non DOT?

I use a M/T 275X Pro DOT Drag Radial, but that might be a little too wide for you.

Currently they have 1 pair of these in stock in 26" diameter...

I used to have 4 back wheels and I would just swap my stickies on before I drove to the track and then put the street tires back on all the other times.

With the new setup I don't bother with street tires as they are nearly worthless.

I do think it might be in your best interest to install the stronger axles before you bolt on the stickies.

Just wondered if you can get them. Size to be determined.
Axle and trailing arm upgrades will happen before any stickies. Then I can see exactly how much room I have and keep it inside the fender lip.

I'm always scanning for Corvairs in car show pics or old tv shows/movies. I started off thinking to myself "nah this show looks more muscle car focused" but then I spotted what looks like an early model in the background. Cool pics, I'm also a fan of the 67 GTOs and the gray Chevelle is awesome! thanks for sharing

A couple cool midyears running at Martin
the 66 is a 327/350/4spd that runs pure stock (all oem factory, limited modification parts)
the 67 is a 427/400/4spd Im not sure of any engine modifications.

327/350…13.49/106
427/400…13.64/103

I joined the guys from FAST for some runs today.
new personal best, and 5 runs better than my previous best.
the air was great at an adjusted 282’ below sea level.
after putting the sidepipes and mufflers on and running in street tune…93 octane and 34* timing, I figured it would slow down even with the really good air. Last personal best was run at an adjusted 1500’ above sea level. And that was a good air day as well.
So this car just keeps surprising me. I’m really happy with it right now, and have had a few people say its a looker too!
I hope to make the suspension and brake changes this winter, and hopefully get a 4 pt. bar and better seat belts in it too.
A tracking of each of the 8 runs today, and a cold morning warmup and some of the FAST guys. That orange Camaro runs low 9’s @ 148 and rhe orange Vette runs mid 10’s @ 128. The black Vette was running a 560 engine and broke both half shafts on a soft launch! Running a G70/15 tire worn down to pretty much a slick. The green 67 had a 427/390 in it that they have been ticking away at, but the water pump shit and the fan ate the radiator.
