Guess that answers that than.

Dad wired running lights on a separate switch, so it’ll run high/low beam with the lights on. It is better, but still junk as far as headlights go.
It won’t look right but get some LED headlights. They blow halogen incandescents out of the water.

I'm so envious of your uncut factory radio.

Best part about the truck :haha:

Found that aux adapter on amazon I’ll most likely order up. Going to look in dads stash at the farm this weekend, there might be a am/fm radio out of my k20 hiding still. Might swap that in as well.

One can only handle so much am radio at a time :doah:

I got a factory Am/fm with a cassette player. Want to talk me out of putting it in Ratbag!?

The factory radio in my 73 doesn't work, just get static. I kinda wonder if the antenna is just disconnected but I haven't dug under the dash to check. I went the lazy way and bought a cheap bluetooth speaker on Amazon and play everything thru my phone. Ultimately I would like to get an aftermarket radio that fits the factory holes.

If the best part is the radio you midaswell swap out that forfidyfor and give it to me

Ha! Look through that stash first.

If you don’t have any luck you can take it with you.
How about a nice rear slider? Got one out of Gangrene. dark tint, black frame.

Yeah I know there are a couple there for sure.

7d7 has a nice slider in it. But I’ll have a look see at it.

Put a new dizzy cap in tonight. Pulled the am radio, noticed the plugs are different compared to the fm counterpart I have.

Will have to see if I can source one at the wrecker tomorrow.

Came across some of the factory manuals I had stashed away in dads garage on the weekend. Kinda handy when a guy needs them I guess.

Went to the wrecker today, found 2 of 10 squarebodys that didn’t have the wiring cut luckily.

The aux module showed up early as well. Wired them both in. Go figure that all the wires were color coded the same, so that was simple enough. Spent more time trying to figure out why the speaker wires weren’t making good contact on the deck itself than anything.

Didn’t get to carried away mounting the aux cord plug or the on/off switch. But they are both tucked away, good enough where I’m not bothered by them.

Sound quality is actually not to bad, I’m quite happy with the end result. I’m sure my dad would be mad if he were here to see what I did, he always said the truck didn’t need fm radio :haha:

Opened up the glove box last night. Didn’t know the original book and pamphlets and such was in there. There was the insurance form from 78 when the truck was bought new, a grand total of 7500 big ones I guess. Also found it kind of neat that it still had the original plate from than till mom signed the truck over to me.

Was also a bunch of exhaust receipts from the 80s up until 02 or so. Seemed every couple years either mufflers, front pipes or tail pipes were getting changed. I guess he really wasn’t lying when he said that thing went through a pile of exhaust over the years.
