70 AMX - almost yard art status

Worked on the car most of the weekend...didn't get much done.
Rear suspension is back together and the fuel system is complete to the engine compartment.
Found that reproduction brake parts basically mean that they look similar but there's no chance that they'll fit.

@ least it rolls now and there's a good chance of big brakes now. :waytogo:

Not a lot of progress...got the mc for the clutch mounted.
Step 1, drill 3 holes??? Not bad for a bolt in / no cut set up. Oh well.
Waiting on machine work to make any real progress.

Threw together a 401 for another Javelin. Should be a stout little daily.

Gotta love today's high quality FelPro gaskets. Forking junk!

Shouldn't leak much.

Manifold must be cast wrong.....

Nah...the holes for the bolts/studs on this gasket are narrow, oblong slits and offset somewhat. Usually the hole is a simple centered diameter.
And how could you suggest, Edelbrock screwed up something?
The carb studs are tight on every carb I've used on this manifold but I have run this intake several times with no major issues.

Maybe the gasket was made on a Friday afternoon.

This intake is my gateway mod - it has a factory part number so the thought is, keep it looking facoty-ish. This snow balls into era-correct mods (cam/porting/headers) and is followed up, oh hell - might as well mods (starting here on this one - this is the engine we talked about building an 4L60E for).

4L60E!?

Well I guess it's better then a 700r4.

How do you adapt that?

with one of these.

& a 4L80E wont fit the tunnel without metal work.

Hell, I could have gave you a 4lb mini sledgehammer had I known....

:haha:

Wait, you said javelin, a 80 won't fit?

That's ok. You keep it in case you have to do any fine tuning on the Chevelle.

Looks like the tunnel is too narrow midway down the tunnel for the 80.
Have cases for both, if a 80 fits without messing with the tunnel up, it'll go in.
Not going to modify the body on this one. It rust got great paint, no rust and 100% stock (for now).

One of my favorite builds right now. I hope a 4L80 fits - best cruising trans, ever.

Thx, it's a simple build compared to either of yours. I haven't welded anything serious is 15+ years. Looking at picking up a tig machine and learning again...getting close to needing an exhaust system on the car. Probably have a few question for ya...

Also hoping the 4L80 fits. The 401 should have a pretty healthy torque curve. Originally planned on a 200R4 since I had good luck with them in a few turbo Buick and still have a few cases. Now the plan is to run fuel injection and trans off the same controller and make it reliable but fun daily driver.

This followed me home today.
The rusty chrome valve covers should add 10+ horsepower!!!

Good thing I didn't spend all that money on dope...
Probably could of picked up the FiTech for it if I didn't drink.

Think we can troll this tread without too much crying.

Not sure yet...I bought it for the Machine but I'm not sure I can wait that long.
Thinking it would work alright on the AMX with the FiTech 2x4 setup.

Bastage!! That's pretty much the setup I have been thinking of setting up on the chevelle. Not really for any other reason of having something different from the next or last guy.

Fast also offers dual throttle bodies.
Not sure if Holley has something but I am guessing they do.

It's still Mr. Bastage to you!!!

When I had the cam ground...it was done with the idea it might get a cross ram & FI.
The Holley set up is expensive but the stealth throttle bodies are tits.
This is the route I want if the money falls in place.
Tonight's lottery should cover it.
Had an old FAST TBI on the car 10 years ago. Sucked big time. Newer ones are probably fine, but I'm still holding a grudge.

& an AMC motor with a cross ram would definitely make your Chevelle different. :D
