70 AMX - almost yard art status

It's still Mr. Bastage to you!!!

When I had the cam ground...it was done with the idea it might get a cross ram & FI.
The Holley set up is expensive but the stealth throttle bodies are tits.
This is the route I want if the money falls in place.
Tonight's lottery should cover it.
Had an old FAST TBI on the car 10 years ago. Sucked big time. Newer ones are probably fine, but I'm still holding a grudge.

& an AMC motor with a cross ram would definitely make your Chevelle different. :D
What the grudge of FAST? What throttle body we're you using?

I know fitech seems to be the hot ticket on this Forum but how much of that is because it's cheap?....

or it just works?
Hopefully that's the case, I'm not knocking it. Just wondering why everyone just seems to gravitate towards them when all the prices have come down now

I actually on planning on using fitech on the chevelle. See what's it all about

The FAST unit was an old TBI system. Never worked quite right.
Don't remember which model but it's ancient by today's standards. Hell, it's probably in the barn somewhere.

The FiiTech = $1800
Holley Terminator = $3400
FAST = Never priced

Still have to add a fuel system to each.
Holley has the right look with the stealth throttle bodies and can be adapted to future mods easily. Still a lot of cash though.

or it just works?

That's what I'm hoping.
Also like the GM sensors.
Still have quite a bit of homework to do but still leaning to FiTech.
Will get it running with the old Barry Grant carb for now though.

No shit...good things "jeep" shit is cheap and plentiful!
Thinking a new Vette would be cheaper at this point.

Funny, I had a weak moment awhile back.
Had a thought and then F-ed up and proceeded to ask my wife.

What would you say if I sold all my cars and trucks? The 76 stepper, 79 stepper, Monte carlo SS, Cutlass, both studebaker larks, and the 50 gmc short bed, and 51 Chevy 3/4 ton, 49 Plymouth special,
And bought one play toy, a single restored muscle car or a low mileage 2012 Camaro Z28?

She looked me dead in the eyes without hesitation and said "I would love that! When do we start?!"

:doah:needless to say I spent the next 10 minutes backpedaling, and then got the fork outta there for a bit.

( Before I said something else stupid!)

I guess i thought she would fight me a bit or something.

My ex told me to sell all my toys and buy 1 new truck, 1 bike and 1 finished toy.
She was serious.
It would make a good George Thorogood song too...

This was before she found out about the stash in Tyler.

Guess that's why she's the ex i'm guessing!

LoL! Somehow I have managed to get her to forget about it and still drag home a Chevelle!

We had an understanding...I paid all the bills and built a pretty decent 401k.
As long as the lights stayed on I could play.
Only bad thing was she bought shoes/purses...could say much but wish I had that kinda budget for my cars.

I've been happy with the 5 cars/trucks I've installed it on so far.

That's good to hear.

Do you have any experience with the dual throttle body set up?
The 625hp version (30062) should work for my set up.
I don't see linkage for the throttle bodies being a big deal. I have linkage that works for twin Holley's, so I think I'm good there.
I am a little worried about the fuel pump.
Currently, the car has a McRobb pick up in the tank with 8an fittings for the pick up & return.

Hoping that I can modify it to work with an in-tank pump.
If not, I guess I need to modify the tank.

I am assuming that I need to plan on a return line?

Also, have you had to do any tuning with a laptop or can most things be handled with the hand held programmer?

Thx

No experience with the dual throttle bodies.

Yes you'll need a return and make sure your tank is vented. Some guys use the Vette filter regulator if your short a return port on the tank.

Haven't felt the need to use a laptop yet, the handheld is pretty user friendly once you become familiar with the functions and terminology. Yesterday we spent a couple hours fine tuning the EL Camino (warmed up 383 w/5spd) and it runs so damn good :D

That's not too far off my set up...383/5 speed.

I didn't think about the vent. Some of the AMC's came with a vent on the filler neck, others didn't.
When I replaced the tank, I had to reuse the filler neck. Think I used one without the vent.
What's a few more holes.

Thx for the info.

It has a vented cap now. It's a bit iffy.
Originally it had a 1/4" nipple with a rubber line for the vent.
If you filled the car up too much it would siphon fuel out and dump it on the exhaust.
Bit of a fire hazard and the reason everyone of my vehicles has a fire extinguisher in it.

Is this the filter/regulator your, talking about?

Looks like a pretty good solution.

yep. Those with an old style tank & pickup can use an inline pump and one of those filter/regulators and they avoid tank/sending unit upgrades. I still believe an in tank pump (delco 381 or equivalent) is the better setup though.
