700r4 to SM465 swap questions????

You are dumb. Your 465 has a granny gear, I didn't mention that because you don't use that in normal driving. Otherwise the gear ratios are very similar. The big difference is your overdrive but since you are worried about POWER there is no reason to discuss that either.

Go back to driving your gay-matic instead of the MAN-ual you had.

I may be dumb but you are retarded. First of all, you can't complete a sentence, go back and read it for yourself, and second of all, you said "3.56:1 1st and 1.57:1 2nd ! I can't read between the lines as to what you mean, jerk! By the way, lets see what kind of piece o crap you are driving big guy with 9 posts. Big internet bully fag !

That sort of talk will get you nowhere on this forum. Questions are welcome. Tech info is welcome. Cool ideas are welcome. But if you want to name-call, there are a host of other forums available.

As stated earlier in this thread,
We don't tolerate personal attacks here, so keep that in mind next time.

(I don't mean to cut in on Rene's job, I simply wanted to do my best to stop the name calling before it escalates further)

I don't know why you are referring to me, did you not see who started the name calling ? Please see the post previous to mine.:dunno:

I was speaking to both of you. Regardless of who started what, the useful information in your posts was getting buried in useless derision (which is a pain to sort through). I find that sort of environment stifling and would appreciate getting back to civilized conversation where we can actually solve issues (like said gear ratios).

It's not my intention to enforce the rules-I'm neither the lawgiver nor the law enforcer here. So I'm not here to get you in trouble. I'm simply making a respectful request. To both of you.

I actually feel the same way as you. I think my postings up to the point where the guy called me stupid was just fine. Especially when he says he didn't quote the first gear ratio when he did .Please go back and read it. If I'm wrong, I'll apologize. I also know you are not the moderator, and that's okay, just a guy who wants this to be a positive and good nature'd site. I can appreciate that.

I think the information you had was fine. For what little it's worth, I agree that his gear numbering was confusing (at the very least). I also don't understand why he downplayed the significance of overdrive. I think a 0.696 drive ratio is a significant change from 1:1. But, even having similar thoughts about his post, it got hard to enjoy reading the thread when the useful information got buried inside of personal attacks. So...he may have called you stupid, but returning the favor did not help.

There's very little useful information in this post. The ratio of useful information to personal attacks is all screwed up IMO.

Thanks! I think we'll get along just fine. :) Do you have a build thread up for any of the work you've done? It sounds like some neat swapping. Although, in full disclosure, I have 3 automatics and would gladly swap out any of them for sticks. Automatics are just not my preference. So my interest in what you've done is despite the fact that I have no desire to copy it. :haha:

I like to rock crawl. for me, a stick in the rocks is just not the way to go. It also doesn't work all that great making steep hill climbs when you may have to stop in the middle and take off again. I really do like a stick and have driven them for years but, not with this vehicle. It also has high h/p so, I like the little cushion an auto can afford. It's to bad you are so far away, the 465 I have is in perfect shape as is the t.c.. The centerforce clutch is the best I have ever had. I just wish I could find someone who could use it. I know this will upset some people but, I am not a paying member here as I do not own a Blazer, Suburban, or any of these. I am only here once in a while to see the tech as I do have a Blazer chassis under my 1961 Willys wagon. I probably can't post my build thread as I probably don't have privileges. I am a member of many other sites and yet this is the only one who makes you pay. I was really hoping to sell my tranny but can't post in the for sale area either. I think some may enjoy my build as my wagon has a 550 h/p sbc 383 stroker, 700r4, d300, hydro assist steering, hydro brakes, d60 front, 14 bolt rear, ORD 4 link front w/ King 16" coil overs, 38" MTRKs, and much more. I guess now that I can post in this thread, here is a pic.

Fair enough. I DD my truck, so my needs are completely different. If I was in rocks I'd prolly get tired of a stick after a while. But I am a long ways away from being comfortable rock crawling in my (stock) K10. Maybe someday...

You have pictures? Build thread?

I like rock crawling so I prefer to be in control with a manual, instead of screwing around with a torque converter.

That's okay, variety makes the world go around. I really don't want to start a "which one is better, auto or manual" here. It's been beaten to death and the fact of the matter is, it what ever you like . I can say to those who think that a manual tranny is the only way to go is,Take a look at the King of Hammers race. How many manual trannys are being used ?:D

I didn't care about the king of the hammers yesterday, and I am not going to care about it tomorrow either.

Martin

I'm just saying I think the majority of rock crawlers are auto. Thanks, it's been fun. I'm done here.

I was comparing the first three gear on the 700 to the last three on the Muncie so we would be comparing apples to apples. The overdrive is significant for high way driving not accelerating. Same for the granny gear. Its great for offroad and towing but not accelerating. Otherwise the transmission ratios are very similar.

I do mostly trail riding with some blues mixed in, my K5 is mor of a tow rig for my cj which I beat the hell out of.

Its also got a custom blacked out interior with a bench seat and stainless steel inlays. Its 4.56 gears with yukon duragrips front and rear. It is also about to get converted to an NV4500 and hydraboost.

Also... that is a willys... not a k5... it is pretty though

and yet, no apology.. you wont last long in here throwing out "you are dumb" :deal:

I do like the 4 link under that rig. Looks swanky! Shouldn't expect any less from the ORD folks though.

Also, the last bunch of posts in here remind me of pirate, LOL!

Gah! Like a shot to the heart with that last post. Ugh, ok I'm sorry. But also manual is better ;)
