71K5 - BP71K5's Just for fun build

Damn! That's a bummer. But totally understandable though.

Good to see that even with 1000 miles on the road nothing was leaking.

You know, there is one item leaking aside from the rear end and trans, the little speedo adaptor for the VSS on the 205. That thing just seems to leak and may be time for another one. Along with some kind oil coolers for the trans and rear end.

I'm pretty good at broad based assumptions. 1. Blazer on trailer. 2. Blazer on trailer was empty. 3. Wife's suburban stuffed full of guns, ammo, kitty, fish and other goodies, no room for stuff from K5. 4. Space needed to store stuff from the K5. 5. Probably no room for our hero to ride in the burb due to said stuff/family already in it. Assumption summary: he rented the ram.

Side note: had he actually bought the ram he know the first gen crew would circle with pitchforks and torches.

Made it almost halfway of our journey. 1073 miles total. Blazer started getting 13mpg once we got out of the California gasoline. That’s impressive as I didn’t think the mileage difference would be that bad.

Couple neat shots across Arizona and New Mexico.

And our “camp” in Albuquerque.

Fortunately it’s looking like the cooler weather might hold for a couple more days so the overheating gear boxes might have been manageable. But our plan to be in Knoxville by the 20th is now the 21st at the earliest, but our moving truck gets there the 22/23. I don’t know if it’s the weight of gear loaded down, but this thing can’t hold 70mph on any kind of grade. Most of the time it seems to be happiest at 60mph, which is too slow for what we’re doing. What was supposed to be an 8 hour drive yesterday turned into 11 hours, which will put us into Knoxville way too late if I can’t go faster.

Plan is in the works to have the blazer shipped there from here and I’ll go rent a car, fill it with gear and drive it out. Will see how this plan works out.

He already said he has a plan to put it on the trailer and rent a car and stuff it.
This or a suburban are rentals that could take all that

Made just past Memphis into Jackson Tennessee. Barely made it to the hotel as a severe thunderstorm is hitting this area. 40mph winds and tons of rain. Happy to be driving with a roof!

OKC, wasn’t able to find Farmtruck or any of the other guys.

Memphis has a cool Bass Pro store!

Blazer made it home before me. Fortunately it missed the rain storm.

Got in yesterday afternoon.

Blazer did find some rain and the top held it there for me.

Garage pics are mandatory? It’s a finished garage which is kinda nice. It’s also wider than the previous one which is also nice. Not a huge garage, but I can’t complain.

It does have AC though! I even checked that it was working. Super stoked about that.

And the big question...does it fit?

With just an inch to spare! I didn’t even have to air down tires.

Ac garage nice!
I would watch out for fumes and grinding dust going back into the returns though if it has a return line.

Real shops have welders. Which doesn't play nice with AC returns. Otherwise for general wrenching ac is awesome.
That’s part of what I was worried about. Also pumping carbon monoxide into the house for the kiddos probably bad strategy.
