'72 Bluggy: Rocks/ 47s/ LoMax

Well, it's been over a year since I updated this build thread...mainly because Greg hurt my *fillings* :haha:. Thanks to the big man on the site for moving my build thread to this section as well :waytogo:.

So I pretty much left off where I had dropped it off to get finished by Kevin at www.hhfabinc.com Great guy to deal with and a helluva a fabricator in the Amarillo area. It was in Amarillo for a few months getting finished. I finally went to pick it up in November and was fortunate to wheel the Canadian River for 2 days.

It was then time to say goodbye to the Canadian River and drive on down to Consafo Ranch just north of Del Rio...

At this point it's been sitting for about 2 months, not getting much attention. Have the next run coming up in 2 weeks at Stillwater Ranch. So time to kick into 3rd gear to do some maintenance. Adding the DIY4X boot guards with new boots, installing a new aluminum tranny pan (been having leaking issues with the chrome pan), and finding a propane leak in the fuel system. I'm also going to try to build a floor section to absorb more heat from hitting the passenger...AKA my wife. I hope to have more wheeling pictures soon :D

BTW, body panels are in the works...front grille is currently being narrowed, hopefully have it looking like a Blazer again by the October run to Trees Ranch :D

completely impractical, totally to expensive, way to big, but probably the most badass "truck?" iv seen to date.... nice truck

Just read this entire thread. Kind of a big lapse from a couple years ago to now, haha. Turned out decent in the end though.

You need to post up pics of the changes that were made also so people know how much work was done to get it running.

Yeah, it's a decent rig. :woot:

Lots of work was done to get it running...and have a bunch of pictures I'd need to go through. :haha: Changes included swapping from tons to rocks, adding the steering, mounting shocks, finishing the front tube, wiring the motor and propane, brakelines, doing my seat mounts, center console, building the rockwells, recentering my H1s with rockwell pattern, rebuilding my propane tank mounts, building the rear floor and mounting the rear bench, building the exhaust, building the skidplate, building the traction bar that I broke the first trip out :haha:. The list goes on and on. Can't thank Kevin at H&H Fabrication for the help and all his hard work.

Things to come...

Why the switch to Rockwells? Did you ever even take it out on the one ton axles?

Martin

How wide is your chassis at the fire wall

Outside of tube to outside of tube

I'm thinking that the older body style rigs are narrower than the newer ones

Mainly because that's the way things fell into place. I had sold the boggers a while before taking it to Amarillo to be finished. In the deal I worked, it included trading off my built 1 tons and buying a set of really cheap rockwells...it so happened around the same time that I worked a deal on the 47s.

Not sure, I'll take some measurements this weekend :thumb: It looks a lot narrower because a lot has been removed.

Here's another view from my run on Stairway to Heaven at Trees Ranch:

Wow. Can't believe it's been 5 years since I've updated this. It' continues to change but is still wheeling. Hoping to do a new LS motor next year and rebuild the trans. For now planning to fix some broken parts and wheeling it over Thanksgiving weekend. Pictures from the last trip out.
