'72 Bluggy: Rocks/ 47s/ LoMax

my mentor & i below...so here's the tally: 3 12 packs of miller lite = $35, a CO2 tank = $40, 6 cans of primer = $25, and gas = $30...not too bad...i threw on the final beads yesterday to get it finished...now it's time to get the suspension, axles, tires, tub back on!!

swwweet ride CDA. glad you finally got around to it. well almost finished up the suspension this past saturday after putting 13 hours of labor into it. the only thing i have left is to drill out the bottom end of the shackles out to 9/16" holes. i won't be working on it again until fri or sat. so i have some time to relax. lol. i have a feeling the rear shackle angle is going to pretty off until i can get some weight on it, but the front is going to be pretty damn close. will get pics when i have time.

ok ok...so it's not minor. this past weekend, i set up the Sky x-member. bolted it down via 2 1/2" bolts for the mean time, until i can get some weight on it & really figure out the shackle angle. like i said, the suspension would have been done, but i just couldn't drill the lower end of the shackles to accept the 9/16" bolts...but that should be fixed by this weekend. set up the 52s with the zero rates off set by 1.5", then mounted the tci 3" 64s with the ORD flip and 6" HD shackle. hopefully the shackles will be ready to go this weekend, i just ordered up my remaining body mount hardware tonite, i'll be ordering up my D70 u bolt plates tomorrow & some longer spring perches, and i'll be needing to get some u bolts made for the 70...hopefully i'll be home Friday morning to finish painting the frame, then painting more on Saturday morning, then in the afternoon, bolt all the brackets, leafs, etc, back up and down to the D60. in the rear i'll be using the stock 12 bolt on crappy rollers so when we get the tub back on, it'll be a lot easier...& if all goes as planned like it never does :doah: , the body will be back on Sunday or the weekend after...still need to relocate the spring perches on the 70 as well...

Getting the body back on is going to be really cool for you. I remember when I was finally able to get the body back on my 69 after tearing it all apart. Thought I would never see that day happen.

not air shackles, light saber shackles...i'm using star wars technology :eek1: . bent? i'm sure it may be. :D

maybe i missed it from the 21 pages before, what made your decision to stick with drum brakes or are you gonna convert to disc?

(1) in the process of stripping my blazer down to bare frame, i thought to myself, oh i won't need this parking brake cable anymore (2) i figured i could run a t-case ebrake (3) the front end does most of the braking either way so the drums would be fine. then Kert comes out with a disc conversion for the 70. holy crap. so i may go that route and just rerun the e-brake on the axle again.

woot woot. got a lot done this past weekend. finished painting what needed to be painted & remounted the front suspension. spring perches on the d70 will be relocated by this Friday & bushings taken out of the 64s to reinstall some greaseable ones.

here's the front suspension reinstalled. :D let's see how it sits when i get some weight on her. so the plan for this coming weekend is to pick up my 70 and springs from my buddy's shop, go home & hopefully i'll have my www.diy4x.com spring plates in by then so i can paint them. then i'll bolt in the front 60, finish mounting up the tires on the H1s *bolt down the pieces and add 10 lbs*, then get the rear suspension together and bolting on the 70. then hopefully on Saturday morning, we'll start the long process of getting the body back on, but this time i'll be getting a few more buddies to help out. & i also plan to drop in the motor and hopefully get some poser flex pics 'cause i wanna be cool like MNorby :pimp1: :saweet:
