'72 Bluggy: Rocks/ 47s/ LoMax

thanks guys. well got my D60/70 spring plates in today from Kert over @ DIY4X, haven't had a chance to check them out since they arrived back at my parent's place, but i'm sure they're awesome like all of Kert's other stuff. still waiting on my rock rings from great lake offroad, and i'm still in search of some HD diff covers at a good price. would love to get my hands on some of Kert's covers, but a bit outta of my price range & i may go with GLO's, *185 shipped, not bad at all*. i called ORD today & got some u bolts and probably won't be ready until friday or so after talking to James, good guy never had a chance to do business with him firsthand, and will probably be sent out next week. same thing going on with my spring perches. since we had to relocate them because the PO relocated them to fit on a yeep and he boogered them up by even welding them on the inside. no way to get them off but by torching them off. & Tracy @ DIY4X told me those probably wouldn't ship out until Friday. so no body going on just yet. it looks like i'll have to wait until next weekend. DAMN IT!

Nice that you can work outside this time of the year.

Makes builds go a little faster...well at least 'continue' through the winter.

Cool build ya got going on, using uber stout parts, good suppliers and taking your time to do it right the first time.

Nah, I know you weren't complaining. I was just letting you know they went out! I appreciate the business!

...i think the body's ready to go on this weekend. i'll be getting my rock rings tomorrow and hopefully my spring perches as well, so i'll be dropping off the spring perches off at CBC Off Road (my buddy's shop) and get the D70 finished up. hopefully i have my ubolts by the end up the week as well. but this weekend, i finished bolting all the suspension down & torquing everything down to specified TQ setting & mounted all the tires *finally* and added 15 lbs of nitrogen to all of them...i'll be checking back this weekend to see if they lost any air. Shawn over at Great Lake Offroad took care of me *today, Sunday afternoon* & ordered up my diff covers & will ship tomorrow. then i'll be ready to rocky road for saturday to get the body on...maybe even the motor if we're up to it...i even started tearing into the np203 so i can rebuild it and get it prepped for the doubler
biggrin.gif
...so i'll be back home Friday hopefully with all my stuff in the mail and the 70 ready to go, finish painting what needs to be painted, and set the axles into place so saturday we can just throw the body on.......so now....

ALL I NEED IS SOME BADA$$ FooKING WEATHER FOR THIS WEEKEND. :eek1: :D

of course, nice stuff from Kert @ DIY4X as always. got my spring perches in today and are ready to go on the D70. so everything's ready to go now. my rock rings came in today as well, but wasn't around when UPS dropped them off at 10PM  . and hopefully my diff covers get here by their scheduled delivery date on Friday...other than that, everything's good to go.

any suggestions for me as i start to rebuild my 203 range box? can i just tap the bearings and seals in or do they have to be pressed in? thanks.

oh & measured the wheelbase, got roughly 113/114" so looks like no 118 but with the holes on the spring perch i'll be moving the axle a bit further back, so hopefully i can get the 115"...anyway i wanted 115-118...so that's good enough...

don't tell me, tell Kert...lol. i bet he smiles all day knowing how much kudos he gets on his products...awesome stuff.

quick cheap update, my ubolts came in today...now just waiting on my GLO diff covers, D60 Mad 4WD axle seals, 2" add a leafs for the 52s...but it's awesome how everything is coming together...weather is looking good as well, partly sunny in the low 60s *which is damn cold for us texas/mexico border mexicans :haha: *...but don't want to count on the weather just yet

wish me luck guys. i'm leaving bright & early tomorrow morning to pick up my 70 *or nag my buddy to finish welding on the spring perches since he hasn't done anything on it in the past 2 weeks or so*. hopefully UPS delivers my last goods tomorrow as well. probably spend the good part of tomorrow painting, then once the paint dries, i'll start bolting in the axles. our weather looks sunny and in the high 50s tomorrow, which is damn cold but as long as there's no rain......i'll be back a crap load of pics hopefully.

I just have to say, (since I'm from Texas, just living in buffalo right now), that 50 degree weather is t-shirt & jeans weather. :wink1: If it's raining, man up & put on a sweatshirt. :waytogo: Might I direct you to the weather channel to see what the weather is here in buffalo right now. I'm tellin' ya, the snow is blowing straight across my office windows right now. :haha: And if you'll look here, you'll see what we have to look forward to. :rotfl: Looks like a heatwave by tuesday!! :D

People up here use 50 degree weather to sunbathe & swim in.

Later,
Buddy

ha ha. sorry but i'm a heat junkie & 50* weather just ain't my thing, sorry tough guy. :D but i still managed this past weekend, even in 35* weather. :haha:

so i drove home Friday early morning, to pick up the 70. well well, nothing had been done by my buddy, but right before we headed out for lunch, he torched off the old spring perches and shock mounts, grinding down the old welds, and changed out the pinion seal. we couldn't figure out a decent pinion angle, so we decided that just setting them on top of the axle would fine with the ubolts tied down. so after a long lunch and going to Pepboys to buy some locking lug nuts, i headed home. got home, painted the axle, spring plates, spring perches, and motor mounts again. went late into the night (2 AM) when i finally put all the tools up and cleaned up and had the axles, tires, and suspension mounted. :D so i ended up going to sleep at about 3 AM that night, since my buddy was anxious to see the thing and wanted to get some poser flex pics :D ...oh yea, those will posted.

Saturday: woke up at 8 AM, headed to Oreilly's, picked up some gear oil and engine enamel. went home, started prepping the motor for paint & waited for my buddies to come over. painted the motor, then a couple of buddies and i took the frame around to the back yard and started to get the tub on. took us a few hours to finally get it on, but we did with a lot of muscle and thinking and a million ideas on how to do it "right". llllong story short, we got the body on and got about 150 pics *CDA* i'll post 'em up tomorrow night, but here's a couple of teasers. :D

How did you get into the 113-114" WB? Mine is around 108.5" and that is stretched and fender hacked to get it there. I have my 56s in backward even so center pin back would be the same as the 63s right?

These latest pics are giving me a "tingle"..... :saweet:

What size are those Boggers??
