'72 Bluggy: Rocks/ 47s/ LoMax

I'll be interested to see the gaps around the doors when you get them on.

It seems like all the Blazers I look at lately (off Craigslist etc), the door gaps are totally ****ed at the seam with the windshield. Maybe it's also to do with the fact that I only go look at the crappy cheap ones though? LOL

i still had the 2x4s at the rear of the frame in that pic. you look at the pics from sunday & you'll see the fenders are straight with the firewall.

:haha: :haha: :haha:
no doors on this trail rig buddy. unless i can figure out how to dovetail them with the rear body panels. :D

I had to go back and read your original specs, have you stayed true to them?

Are you still using the 3:1 Low-max set up? That's gonna be sweet.

What are the plans for "making" the rear tires work?
I hear ya on the wheelbase thing.

Any rocker repair in the build list or are you doing some sort of slider?

Big accomplishment getting the body back on. Sure makes it all come together. You are brave for moving that body around without bracing - with my luck I'd collapse the floor if I did that!

thanks a lot guys...feels good to be this far so far :D

i stayed true to most of 'em i think...not sure what i wrote, i'll have to go back and read...but the lo max is already part of the family. the thing that sucks is i don't know whether to put the lo max behind the doubler or putting it in my trophy case :haha: as for making the rear tires work...umm, do you mean locker wise? that'll be a detroit...or do you mean as far as clearance? that will be done by dovetailing. i'm thinking about removing some metal off the sides of the tub where the windshiel frame is at *part that attaches to the front fenders*...don't know if that makes sense, but just think it'll help things line up a lot nicer. also planning on attaching the fenders to the cage so that they can be removable for those really gnarly trails. i like the looks of the Gen 1s and i don't think i'm ready to take that step up to an all out tube buggy.

forgot, the rockers will stay as is, just plan to reinforce with some tubing, or go ahead and put in the new rockers...haven't decided yet. went back and read and specs are pretty much the same, except i'm going to do the xj steering shaft, maybe a tractor supply hydro set up, and using 8" ORD shackles on the front. i think those are my only plan changes.

that beast is giving me a woody.
What a sweet ride your building.
Keep those picks coming.

That truck is bad ass. First gens look sweet when they're huge. I was just goin through this months issue of four wheeler and saw the section where they have thier top truck '07 candidates. I could definiately see your truck in those pages in the future.....Kevin

well TTC is in my sites, but i'll have to hold off until next year's competition. plan on seeing mine submitted. :)

well i've taken some time off to rest and i think this weekend we'll be hitting it hard again. hopefully we torch off the rear fenders so we can start the plans to narrow it. start drawing up my cage as well. and we had planned on dropping the motor in, but a BBC is in my sites, but we'll see how that goes. and hopefully i can finish tearing down the 203 this weekend as well. hopefully i bring some pics back to you guys.

well didn't get the fenders completely off because we ran out of nitrogen, but did get most of the stuff outta the way. here are a few pics of the plasma in action. took the 203 apart, got it cleaned up, and painted and is now ready to get put back together this weekend. then the doubler and lo max will be married :haha: through sickness and in health. still had problems getting the motor in, but will address that this weekend as well. didn't get too many pics as my camera died on me, but will carry my charger from now on. :doah:

Forget about nitrogen with the plasma cutter.... just use dry compressed air.

I bought a bottle of nitrogen for my Hypertherm and ended up blowing through it in about 5 minutes flat. Way too expensive to keep using bottled gasses for plasma cutting.

IMHO

lol...yea well if i could sell/trade for some 47" LTBs i would...but i'll have to wait for now...

that's true...but considering my air compressor only works up to 70 psi b/c it's a POS husky brand and we get the nitrogen free :) ...it was our only option that day...

Show us flex when it's all built w/body panels, that's the real test. :smirk:

Looks damn serious though.

progress has been slow, but i was determined to have the doubler ready by the end of this weekend & so far so good. i'm halfway done, now the hard part. i need to figure out how much to clock the 203 & lo max. lol. have the 203 and adaptor set up already, moving on to the lo max today. hopefully i'll have pics tomorrow.
