72 Jimmy PO has me PO'd

Man, IMO you've done most of the hard work already and it's looking good. Why not pick up a 120v welder with some 0.023 wire some gas and get it done? New skill while you're at it.
I agree!

Only other thing I would suggest who ever does the welding the cleaner the metal the better. Otherwise you end up using to much heat to burn through the paint and end up with more holes to fill. That will make learning to weld sheet metal frustrating and you will hate it.

You fab work looks good!

Thanks for your replies, and I agree........

All I have is a flux core welder, and they do not make 023 flux core wire any place in the USA, all I could find is 030, and my welder doesn't have variable settings

Thanks for the encouragement, I've welded in rockers and floor pans so far, I just don't know what happened to my welding skills, I'll try more practice.?....

Not that this means much, but I’ve never had any luck with sheet metal and flux core. Mostly buggers and blow throughs.

x2 on max02s suggestion of clean metal.

Solid 0.023 with mixed gas is so forgiving, completely difference experience. Almost enjoyable. YMMV.

I agree, just don't have that setup

What does YMMV mean?

What if you brush on flux and use 023 wire? No gas shielding

I get using what you got, I’m all for it.

YMMV, Your Mileage May Vary. As in just sharing my experiences, other folks may get different results.

Not sure about replacing gas with flux paste, haven’t heard of it before.

Keep up the good work, enjoying following along. Thanks for posting.

The Home Depot around here rents welders. Might be an option to consider if something like that is available.

F words and nudity not in the allowed forum within the site are the only picture rules I know of. I mean, people still post pictures of Fords and don't get banned, so pretty sure you're good!

Or, make this fit

Thanks for advice Ekajkrats, just went through your build, cool stuff, the only thing I would add is a winch, pretty easy stuff nowadays, just bolt it up

My recommendation is B&BBM, just my 2 cents

Michael Anglo was once asked, "how do you get an elephant out of granite "? He said, "just chip away everything that doesn't look like an elephant "

Super easy, trans jack would help, as the winch is awkward to move around, no welding no drilling,

Tolerance is tighter than a frogs butt, and that is water tight

You could do it in your driveway

Ok, this system was a success, just have to fine tune the depth of the counter sink, I have a tool that should help with repeatability, just have to get the right counter sink

Thanks for following along guys, keeps my enthusiasm up

And yes IMHO, the 67 68 was the best front end that Chevy made, this being a Jimmy, just had to much chrome on it, hence the change

MD following your build, always good to see some new blood
