It's been SO long since I started working on a complete new suspension design, that I kind of lost track of all the other things that still need to be done......and in what order!!! :thinking:

Obviously, I need brake lines, fuel lines, ARB and CTIS air lines, electrical harnesses, etc. as well as built 3rd-Members with lockers, axle shafts and driveshafts.

I guess in the "big picture" I should probably still be focusing on items that are physically large that need to find a home in the vehicle BEFORE I start stealing space for the smaller items that can probably go almost anywhere that's left over.

For sure, I need to carve out the space for a 30 - 40 gallon fuel tank... that's going to eat up a LOT of space between the framerails, especially since I don't really want it to hang down AT ALL back there.

I really want to get the "White wheels & hubcaps" project back on the front burner again. Mostly because I'm sick of pushing the wheel blanks around my shop on a furniture dolly to get them out of my way... but also because removing the H2 wheels and bolting on a set of white stock-looking wheels is going to make a HUGE visual change in the truck and make it look a lot closer to the vision that I have in my head for the final product. :waytogo:

The rear floor sections need to be welded back on, but I think having access for the fuel tank will be a lot simpler with a big, gaping hole back there.....so I will probably just rework the sheetmetal without actually welding it in place.

The rocksliders need to get completed too. I still have some CNC work to do on those parts, and I'll probably bend up the final slider design in .250" wall tubing instead of the current .125" wall stuff....

It's a big list for sure. I guess I'll think it over tonight and make a plan before the big MPS event on Sunday (6/14)!!!! :D

It seems like you've been working on suspension stuff forever, I imagine you are pretty excited to work on something else for a change.
 
Congrats...I think CK5 might shut down the internet the day this truck moves under its own power again. This whole forum is mentally invested in this project at this point ha ha.

I think you should focus on the stuff that makes it driveable and worry about the details later. Then you can test fit and function and operation before you tear it all apart again to make it show pretty finishes.
 
I'd say you are all correct... there does appear to be a growing emotional intensity about this build, and I think it's really just the fact that it's starting to "look" like a vehicle again..... it's hard for most viewers to get excited about a project that hardly looks like more than a pile of tubing or small metal bits most of the time. :D

Even Charlie is getting excited in his own way. This morning I told him that last night was a big night in the shop working on "the monster truck"....as he likes to call it.

His response back to me was: "Did you paint it orange?" :)


I felt bad having to tell him that painting it orange is just about the LAST thing that we will do on the project. He took it pretty well, but I could tell he was a little bummed.

Greg, you don't have a lack of motivation but I would now concentrate on installing everything it takes to make the engine run, the transmission shift, and the brakes function properly. This will make certain that you don't overlook anything as far as having room to plumb fuel and brake lines and run electrical wiring. It is also another HUGE motivator to keep moving forward and maybe at an even greater pace once you can hear it run and move it around under its own power.
 
Incredible! I'm feeling fairly accomplished from the few little things I have done to my crew cab recently. Today I put the disk brakes out back and it felt great! But what you have done makes a disc brake swap feel like stacking two Lego blocks together by comparison of level of complexity. I hope you are wildly proud of yourself. Cause you should be!

Greg, I resonate the previous comments by all the others.
However; those shock tube plates simply don't fit this build (or did I miss something??)...I mean for all the other "just throw it together and drive it" (like mine) builds going on it would be fine; but that corner hanging out over the frame just don't fit in my eyes...RESPECTFULLY....this build demands more!

And of course if it weren't for the Edelbrock issues, I'm sure you would have had it thumping by now, hell a quadrajet will practically run without supporting equipment!
