72 k5, sons first truck build.(officially NOT mine now..)

Interesting on the low hump / high hump. My jimmy is the high hump but I went to a salvage yard and pulled one out of a two wheel drive chevy with a 4-speed two wheel drive and it was also high hump. :dunno: I wonder if 4 speed vs. auto has anything to do with it also on the 2 wheel drives? I have never seen the low hump version.

Yep from what I've gathered, 4spd and 4wd got high hump, only auto 2wd got low humps

I got the frame totally painted. got the little damage on the front fixed. got the shackle flip brackets mounted. I gotta get the rear cross member put in and get the trans mount cross member in. im ordering new rear springs and front shackle/bushing kits from SDtrucksprings
http://www.sdtrucksprings.com/index...2&make_select=616&model_select=7984&x=97&y=13

and then its time for new hard brake n gas lines. im waiting for body on frame to measure/order the shocks n extended flexible brake lines.

Well we're finally getting back to this thing now that there's money coming in again. I just ordered new rear springs, U bolts, front shackles/bushings, and all the spring eye bolts. Hopefully we'll have it back on the ground soon. I still gotta order the most important part though:rolleyes: the body mount kit:haha: Backordered everywhere when I tried last time.... hopefully someone has it now or ill be doing poly anyway:doah: We should have the new brake and gas lines in this week or next.

Why not go poly mounts? I like mine a lot More than the stock rubbers. A lot more solid feeling with not any extra vibration I can tell.

BECAUSE of the more solid feeling:waytogo: Ive ridden in 2 different trucks before and after a poly mount change and both had more minute and sharper vibrations and road bumps transmitted to the passengers.. they also both had full poly bushings done at the same time so it could have been the combo of all of it and the new to old thing:dunno:

but the main reason is because the 25 year old rubber ones under my burb are in better shape than the less than 10 year old poly ones that were under this blazer

well since no one has the rubber mounts I ordered poly.... Also backordered:doah: we'll have everything else ready to go and be waiting on the body mounts.....

am I correct in thinking that well have to clearance the firewall (BFH) to clear a large cap HEI with no body lift? it was real close before with the 3" bl.

as of now we have the front axle ready to go together, springs are on the frame, fuel line is run (may add a return line for future use while im in there:thinking:), and the rear axle is ready to go in (just cleaned and painted it).

I have the extended brake hoses and regular (not adjustable:frown1:) prop valve ordered.

still have to get shocks but we'll measure them when its running and moveable again so we can flex it.

I'll get picks when I get back up there today or tomorrow.....

Does your poly kit come with nuts and bolts? Mine didn't, though it did have washers. I know some places that sell it send it with it, but that might be something you will want to double check in the down time.

My dizzy seems to just clear without adjusting the metal, but I didn't put the engine in, the PO did, I only replaced the dizzy. Can't get the wire hold down on it though, not enough room for that. Take the cap off when you put the dizzy in and it might fit. I'm sure someone else will chime in with more personal experience.

I don't know about the bolts :dunno: I may have to measure and buy them separate. the dizzy will be in the motor all ready when we set the body back on. I may just massage the firewall just to be safe... cant really hurt I guess.

i don't really want any body lift due to already having 4" suspension lift and only 34" tall tires... an inch may be fine though:dunno: ill see here when we get closer.... i also realized that due to the lift we cant get the frame and stuff back under the body stands:doah: so i have to buy a set of roller wheels or wheels/tires to put on for reassembly:haha: D*mn it!

they don't have the moun ts but I like the site so far:waytogo: never heard of it before.... im gonna have to check it out for my burb too

You can put a big cap dizzy in and it fits. Off road it may crack the cap when the body flexes off camber. You only need to Bash it a lil at the very top of the cap are behind maybe a couple inches worth to not have a problem. A gentle massage will make it look better with a 2 lb mallet. I still Need to do it to mine also. I haven't taken it off road since I switched to hei but on road I have had no problems with it. There is only a c hair of space between it and the body though. The bl will help a little to get the body over the dizzy enough I believe.

We're close now:waytogo: bunch of little things to attend to. but getting there finally
