On the edge of my seat again. Be sure to show here you drill & tap the holes in the gear box. I've seen different locations on various threads.

Im going back and forth on eitehr tapping the box itself... or tappin the top and end caps.

the box i had as a spare that i tapped ended up getting wet and rusty inside... so that is a no go.

I think for times sake i will tap my stock components and see what happens.

I got my brackets cut out and got my ram cut and turned. Helped my buddy make sliders today so didnt have time to get my crap done. Should be buttoned up tommorow though.

decided to tap the box... boy that was fun.

I couldnt get the orbital out without the worm gear. they were stuck together. So i had a ball party.

It went back together without too much grief. was just an extra hour i was not planning to spend.

got it tapped and cleaned and put back togther and all buttoned up. I am out of wire so the brackets are just tacked up for now. I am heading back out to mod my stock pump for flow only and figure out what im going to do to increase fluid capacity.

pics.

Looks good! Did you make the mount on your axle? Also, how did that mod work out on the pump? Lookin good, Im about 2 steps behind you.

Yeah i made the mounts with my trusty cut off wheel. I still dont have fluid in it so no clue how it works yet. I still need to figure out the reserve fluid situation

The NorCal Assist is born!! :woot:

Awesome welds on the mount by the way. Are the hydro lines going to be long enough? They look kinda short but I guess they're close enough to the center of the axle that they won't move too much.

On to the doubler.

Hha thanks. Those are cranked 110 welder flux core welds even. The lines should be plenty long. My suspension is fairly drooped in that pic as well.

For the fluid reserve I recommend getting a cooler like this one for $20:

Then, using the 3/4" line you can connect it to a reservoir can like the one I have. 57.jpg

It is from a '82 diesel stock power steering pump with the separate reservoir can. Run the line from the cooler, to the can, then back to the pump.

made a FUSH! Right now my money is more valuable than my time, plus I would rather make the things on my truck, thatway it is actually "built " and not bolted on.

Pics when my phone decided it wants to upload. I have about 15bucks in this
