put a fresh coat of flat black on the top this weekend, and polished up the chrome on the roof rack. the wifey did not think that was a very good mothersday present no matter how hard i tried to spin the "I did it for you, baby" angle

Lol ouch :doah::haha:

Top all painted up

inside fender just used a thin strip to tie the front n back together

gonna do the same for the floor, just a thin strip of sheet metal welded in

my new soft top i picked up on the CHEAP!

Getting there slowly

I've got mad respect for anyone who tries to save an old Chevy from the scrap heap, especially when the whole process happens in a gravel driveway! That is hardcore.

for what ever reason and I still can't figure it out....

When I put the filler neck back in place the rubber filler neck tube is like 2" short so it's a trip to Napa for some filler neck and 1/2" vent line. I can't figure out where I lost 2 inches but my wife says cause it's cold out.

stupid me forgot to clock the sheet metal to level the gas cap, but not too concerned. filler work done on passenger side.

at least it sits flush

close up of the cap sittin crooked

got the trim put back on

I've got a bucket just like that that I have spent countless hours on....it can get real hot in the wide open sun like that....carry on!:waytogo:

WOW!!!! Awesome work saving that full vert! I've never seen somebody put that much work into repairing rust on one of these trucks before, definitely have to give you props!!!

And there it is folks.... after a year + of working on this rig the wife says it's time to have another one. I jumped up and said I can get another project and she looked at me strange and said "no, another baby you retard!"

so I ponder the new info and a thought forms in my little mind... is the K5 gonna be big enough?? I pull out my "jump to conclusions mat" (office space) take a leap and land on NO. time to upgrade to 4 doors, thinking a suburban might be in my future :)

what's the going rate for a 73 K5 that is 90% complete? basically the new owner will need to install a roll bar, seat belts, new battery and tires I'll finish the rest as I already have the material and 9 more months to complete

you've gone too far to quit now...I would at least finish it to new paint so you can recoup some of your effort.

With your fab skills?

Time to get another truck bed and 2 more doors. I can at least say I have seen a rig with 5 fuel doors on it. Make your own damn suburban man.

Make a Suburban with a removable top.

...oh, and finish this thing please.
