73 K20....crossmember time

it's only to help hold the T-case in place while the front drive shaft beats on it front to back. That's all. It's not there to hold the weight or stop rotation. Consider how hard it is to push and extend the front shaft (even if you think it's not that hard) now imagine the T-case feeling that ALL the time, even on the street.

I'm not a big fan of mounting the case to the frame. Everything twists and will stress the case, especially an aluminum case. Unless you have buggy, like @MNorby, or truggy that's more cage than not, I'd think the torque rod will suffice.

I drilled the holes in needed to drill. What a mesmerizing experience. It's done for now though. Gonna experiment with mounting the tcase now.

So i designed a bracket to get my hydroboost unit mounted. Working on making the stupid socket to get the nut off right now. Looking forward to being done with this can of worms!

Found some steel. Started drilling it out, still a ways to go. Need to get the boring bar in there and open it up another .1" and I should be clear of everything. Then I'll skim the opposite face and throw it in the mill. Write up a program for the square I need to mill into the face of it. Once that's done I'll move onto the backside which I'll open almost half of the part for the rod to pass through and the finishing touch will be a 3/8" square for a breaker bar to engage.

Should have thrown a chunk of oak under it and strapped it to the crossmember so the driveshafts cleared the crossmembers. Coulda shoulda woulda :D
