Sometimes you just need beer and walk away
Usually when things work out like this, it's because you missed something or have something wrong so you aren't supposed to move forward until that is fixed. You're right! I just want to accomplish something tonight. All its been so far is one fail after another.
The good thing is the steering pump bracket will definitely work. I'm worried I'm going to screw up but whatever if it gets bad enough I'll cut the back portion of the bracket out of steel Monday and tight that son of a bitch to the steering pump.
That bracket looks like it's for the '88+ trucks.
Does your hydrobooster not have a bracket? If not, you're gonna need the big-azz nut that goes on the back, and the magic tool for it, as a crescent wrench sucks for it. I should still have the magic socket if you need one. I've done the conversion from vacuum to hydro twice, can give you lots of pix and some advice as required.

Now I'm gonna get out the mig welder and try to weld a nut onto the stud. They must've zipped it in with an impact. If it doesn't work then I'm screwed.

Is that a hydroboost pump? I only see one return line.![]()
Yeah it is. There's another line around the other side. Usually the hydroboost ones look like they have a more rectangular reservoir but this is what they gave me
What reservoir do you have?
I doth see how that extension even does anything because it's on the same plane as the torque.. Cut the rod and modify it.. It's there to keep the cases from pulling apart.. Not from spinning, there would be a side bracket for that. Think 205 or 203..
I have trucks with both. My 72 had a mount off the side of the case for that.. My wife's 92 had the rods to the trans cover but not the case, my blazer had it to both...just make something to help, don't overthink it.
