73 K20....crossmember time

That's more or less what I was thinking, just level it out. It's high enough where I don't think you'll need to be concerned with axle interference so I'm not planning on going back anymore than I need to. I want some frame accessible for a bumper to bite onto.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Wondering what to do for a skid plate...

Well in that time I dented my oil pan trans pan. Bent my 3/8 thick skidplate. Tore off my exhaust like 5 times, mu exhaust is literally as up there as ut can be. Dented my floor ( what's left).

My gas tank is perfect though lol.

I think having the leaf spring there helps a bunch

Weld it or bolt on? It would probably strengthen the hell out of the frame to weld it up lol.

3'x3' .25" thick is a $150 piece of steel...

Bolt it.

Build a couple square tube crossmembers with some tabs.

those must be bay area steel prices and you could get away with something thinner I'm sure.

I used angle iron and a thread coupler.

But I also built my own straps. Don't remember how the stock ones are

I did the same thing Eric

I think i may strap over the tank as opposed to under, which means you wont have to have anything going over the top of the tank as far as metal goes...it would however need to be "boxed in" on the portion in the frame.

I'm doing the opposite, building a cage with a skid for it to sit in and I'll strap the top. That's my plan anyway....
