73 K20....crossmember time

The crew cab and burb are gonna be the comfortable nice rigs. My buddy who does upholstery said it wouldn't be a big deal to splice in new carpet in certain places. But it's a concern of mine.

But on this rig no need for a nice rug

It's hot here today. I looked over the fuse block and it's too sketchy to run. I ended up gutting it and saving some things so someday I'll tie it all back in again.

I found a 22 circuit full wire harness for $180 online so I'll probably just go that route.

I also made a list of the things I need to finish the cage. Just a bit more tube and gussets.

Then I got rid of the pansy pedal...ever brake.

Look over your steering column real good. Is it possible to move some things around and lower it into the firewall, AKA get it out of your chest some? I did that with my 68 but the columns are very different. Makes driving it 2,846,501 times more comfortable.

Which brand did you get? I've got a speedway motors one sitting in the box waitin to get put to use

Speedway! Looks like a sweet deal to me. I wont need much of it to begin with but nice new fresh wires is dreamy!

Sounds good! I actually am ditching the 73' non tilt for the ol k5s steering column with tilt. Should help me some.

I've been sitting on mine for well over a year :doah:. Seems like pretty good quality. My biggest gripe is there is no bulkhead connector for the firewall but I plan on making my own using a Deutsch connector. A pretty darned Good value for the money!

Oh yes good point.

Id really like to see mine go in the glovebox area. Have the wires exit high in the engine bay so i can feel better about water crossings.

Ive always thought having a military connector would be awesome...one plug for 30 something wires.

This is what I had planned, I deal with them all the time at work and the seal well and last for a long time. CAT uses them everywhere

Didn't do too much tonight. It's my first week back in school so lots of megadeth and caffeine.

Gutting more wiring out of it tonight. Nearly done.

Also ordered the rest of the dom tube for the cage. I really want to finish that shit up. Plans are to add two 5 inch gussets at the back center bars, add a dash bar for the A pillar, two little 45°s for the A pillar and then a center bar connecting the halo to the dash with two 5 inch gussets at the bottom.

I bought some more fuel fittings I needed...including the fuel pressure one...we'll see how I mount that.

Also started gathering exhaust parts in my summit cart.

This truck wants to rage. I can feel it!

Forgot to mention I finally gave up with the oem alternator mount and bought a nice piece off amazon for 30 bucks. Now I can put the belt on...one step closers to running.

I also managed to buy too short of shorty spark plugs lol. Damnit!

Got the alternator bracket on. I feel much better about this setup. The only thing I want to change is the bolt going into the alternator on the adjustable side has a ton of slop in the rod end so I'll make a spacer for that to ride in.

Added gussets to the back of the cage. I notched two tubes to spread the load for the front. They'll get welded in tomorrow.

Also looks like the fuel line brackets will work just fine.

Which waterpump is that? Stocker? I'm wondering if I should be putting a high flow on mine..

I wonder how well that alternator bracket will line up the pulleys.

The pulleys line up perfect. The waterpump needs about a .0625" spacer though. I'm hoping to put a belt on this week so I'll know for sure soon.

Standard long. It's a aluminum "hd" one from rockauto...Basically it had bigger bearings and maybe a little better flow. It's cheap too...40 bucks or so.

I didn't want anything too crazy as I've seen the high flow ones crush hoses. Then you have to run the reinforced ones and so on.

I've blown two sets of pump gaskets so um not sure what the deal was but I since added a bypass.. Well see and I hope that works
