73 K20....crossmember time

So im keeping my eye out for a sm465 with the 32 spline output shaft. I think started in 85' and ended in 90'.

Ive scoured Craigslist and nothing has popped up. Theres a ton of 10 splines all over for cheap. I thought maybe I could get a 10 spliner and swap to 32 but it looks like its not that simple. There were some bearing changes through the years and 32 spline factory shaft is no longer manufactured. You can buy the shafts from novak or advanced adapters but there $178 and not guaranteed to be in good condition.

So ill watch Craigslist like a hawk. Its odd that there werent many manuals out here.

Any 465 with a 208 or 241 is 32 spline. I believe they started around '80

As far as finding an SM465/NP208 combo, it should be simple. Every 1981-1987 K10 or K20 pickup, K10 or K20 Suburban, and 4x4 Blazer or Jimmy, that had a 4 speed, had an SM465/NP208. Starting in 1985, they also had the superior hydraulic clutch setup.

I knew I had posted this already.

So heres the start to the windstar fan brackets...

Im going to wait to drill the holes for the fan side since bending could be enough to screw you up. Sort of a proof of concept to make sure these work as designed. Theyll need some standoffs to take some vibration off the ears to keep them from developing cracks, which ill add after i make the bends.

Just for artsy sake...I cant wait to go wheel again. I have some loose ends to tie up but im thinking ill start my electric fan install this weekend.

Hey thanks guy!

That poor bastard is trying to get out what hes got into it. Hes at about twice what it should be priced at. That jeds adapter looks like a seagull was squeezed out on the welds lol. Im still looking around!

Welds? I thought it was liquid nails

and I saw a wanted add on the facebook "crawler swap meet" and a guy responded that he had one for $250 in Ukiah. Might be worth checking out.

yeah, book of faces. You would need to sign up and send him a message. I can do that if needed, just let me know.

it's a great place to get parts as these "groups" are used as classifieds boards. Lot's of good stuff is posted with the majority in our area.
