73 K20....crossmember time

Yeah!!

I also got 56 inch leaf springs which were off a camper special so the a 9 pack, a front driveshaft and a rear driveshaft all for $120.

So as near as I can tell I need to do ram assist, put in the spartan locker I already have, add a bigger tie rod and I should be done with the front end. It looks like ill be ready to order toyos this week!

Im getting closer to having what I need for the rear too, which I may start in 2 weeks.

Ok so Ive been driving this thing around a bit so its time to re-check the torque on u bolts and what not but first it needed a bath! Cleaned up pretty nice id say. Its the first wash Ive given it since bought it 9 months ago. I had to do a bit of trimming to the shock towers because of the 1.5 inch move forward on the front axle.

Heres the spacers i made for the kingpins:

The zero rates were a real easy install. The truck is a little raked out of course now but once i do the rear end swap it'll be back to normal.

Looks good!

Hey thanks!

I'm curious (and maybe I missed it), but why did you mount the front shocks like that?

I did the same thing as a tech article explained on here but it isnt perfect. I really want them up and not so laid back but itll have to wait a bit. they seem to work fine there but where I wanted them there was that bump in the frame so I had to set them back. Its like anything else it has revisions needed

plus you moved your axle forward with the zero rates after mounting the shocks right? I ran into the same problem so I'm moving them vertical soon.

Exactly. So that made thing a bit worse but in all reality im not going across the desert at 100 mph so its not the end of the world.

Well i called 4wheelparts and the tires i wanted (toyo 40s) are on friggin back order:doah:

It could be a month or more to get them so im looking at other options. I know someone who literally just got some of these tires and now there are people waiting in line to get them.

Im going to check if nittos are still back ordered...

I just called a few more places and nittos arent available for over 6 weeks. what happens when you warranty a tire and there on back order? I guess you wait another 6 weeks. I cant believe that toyo and nitto cant get it together.

I can get the pro comps tomorrow. im thinking im gona swoop those up...they seem to be good tires. Ill put them through the ringer so we'll see!

Its not Toyo's fault that every single bro-dozer in Cali MUST run 40's. If they didn't their hats would get droopy and their 80's sunglasses would break.
