73 K20....crossmember time

if you where running a poly trans, and rubber motors, that's why... vice versa would have been ok, but never trans without motors..

you're lucky you didn't break the adapter....

Ok that makes sense. Sounds like its time for poly everything. The way it tore was the bottom piece. Kinda looks like it just straight up failed. Ill try to warranty it.

just open the bleeders, mc lid, and keep it topped off.. let it sit like that for a few hr's...

**** grows like weeds

What I'm spending on this truck is growing like weeds lol.

I need to get one of those transmission Jacks from hf. Maybe this weekend. I have someone interested in the 700r4 so no sense in waiting.

I need to either reinforce or remake the crossmember. I'm leaning towards reworking the stock one since it's shaped for tranny mounts. I am grinding the cv for the front on the crossmember so I'll need to make a hoop for that side.

Remember, "4x4" in uppercase is "$X$" :haha:

Next question...

I need some more braking power...still running vacuum. Should i use the 85' k30 master cylinder?

One word: Hydroboost.

K30 prolly came with it, but you can't just do the master cylinder, can't mix parts from hydro and vacuum.

Gotta swap out pedal (or redrill your existing one), booster, master, lines to/from pump and the pump reservoir (or cleverly tee a line.) I've done it twice with fantastic results, so it's worth the hassle.

Check out this thread.

That is the thread I got directed to when I swapped over to Hydro. :thumb:

Bleed the brakes like Paul said works great! :waytogo:

Hahaha never seen that before!

Hrrmmmm. dumb question that's probably been covered...why hydroboost? Is it that much better?

How will it effect my braking ability if the truck died on a hill? right now it's two feet on the pedal to get the sob to stop if and when it dies lol.

Good to know. It's driven off the steering pump?

yeah it's nice but what about if a line bust, leaks, gets cut etc? Hydro is super nice but has flaws like the rest.
