Why have the frame so long behind the shackles???

The length of a longbed, without the benefits?

Wow thats a nice piece! Thanks for posting! I would love to end up with something like that.

Some of these flatbeds make me realize I may not have the room for a big ass tool box, 40" spare, camping supplies and a fuel cell...

It's all about how you pack. I intend on doing a flatbed for my crew cab eventually. It will have a couple of areas below the main flatbed for storage. It will also have taller rails that are removable. I intend on making my truck a " unibody" though. The sliders will be welded to the cab and to the frame. The flatbed will be part of the frame but still removable. Just think about it alot. Even on a 4 ft flatbed you can fit a ridiculous amount of stuff.

Bob it at the back of the shackle hangers.

Ok cool. Im thinking ill put a box tube there between the frame rails with a tow hitch in it. Not a huge fan of big rear bumpers.

Very true. Im probably going to do a very basic box tube and woode flatbed to begin with. Definitely want some storage tool box thingies under the flat bed, protected by the sliders. I think if I really wanted to max cargo space id need to make a roll bar kinda thing so I can mount the spare up off the deck at an angle.

just read this whole thread, damn, a lot happened in one year! are you still planning on running the tbi? ( i skimmed a lot of it after i got 10 pages in and realized there were 52 pages):haha:

Is there any room for flexing before that rear tire hits the wheel well? :screwy:

Yeah im sure theres a bit as mentioned but that rig is a bit more show then go. Not that it wont go but its obviously not something you grind up a canyon wall, which i intend to do with mine lol. Im thinking i should just have the flatbed high enough to clear the flex. Or i could build clearance into the flatbed. Obviously lower COG is better...

Haha hey thanks! yeah its been quite the journey so far. I remember a year or so i go i thought getting one tons would be a long time ahead. Yeah im definitely running the tbi. Im a little concerned that i dont have the right comp and its going to run the motor in a "no load" state because of no vss.
