73 K20....crossmember time

Well I got a good bit done today. Finally got the 56s off, along with the shackles hangers. I got one shackle flip on. The other one is fighting a bit.

Ground a bit more on the welds, I think im ready to put the plates on. I got the plating in the mail today...probably going to round the edges like the typical fish plate look tomorrow morning. Im hoping to make short work of that with the plasma cutter I borrowed.

I also got the body pucks and the shackles for the 52s in the mail.

My back is aching now so ive been taking the interior out. Its pretty trashed but ill re work it. Pulled all the unnecessary crap like the seat belts, speakers and wires. Im hoping to adapt a quick release hub on the steering wheel...

All the metals

Finally got the shackle flip on. It fought a bit but i won.

Got the plasma cutter going, burned out electrode then realized i didnt have anymore so i cut the fish plates with the crazy wheel. I probably should have done holes in the plates but i was too tired to think about that. I did the first weld then ran out of wire. great. Picking up more wire today.

Picking up more electrodes too, right?

And it's looking nice.

The more i look at it the more i think i am. Id like to just do a box tube with receiver in it then put some support tubes from the back of the box tube to the frame.

I think you mentioned that you didn't want to run a rear bumper right? If so, yes I would probably do that.....
