73 K20....crossmember time

Realistically if I could just get the brakes, clutch, driveshaft, bed, 14 bolt done and tank mounted I'm nearly ready for a stroll around the block.

There's so much stuff still but one thing at a time. It can get dizzying thinking about it all. Hell I've already remembered several things I forgot to mention above.

It sounds like a lot, but it will get done. Just keep plugging away and knock 'em out one by one. :waytogo:

Yeah thats it!

Im trying not to do anything I dont have to...just in case some miracle happens and I make it to koh.

So for the time being getting it running and driving in 2wd will be huge. I could easily put 500 miles on it then I know its worthy.

I recently joined the facebook group "Fitech owners group". There seem to be a significant number reporting the thermostat provided in their kits is off between 10 and 20 degrees. Since you are running your fans through the system, you may want to look into getting a better delco or delphi replacement. Just a thought. I dont have an alternate gauge to hook mine up to and see if its off, but thought I would share.

Good to know and I'm going to join that group. Thanks.

Pretty knowledgeable group. The couple guys running it know their stuff and are super quick to provide help when they can.

Lot's of fitech+turbo setups over there.

I took their advice of eliminating the prime shot to help with cold starts and it worked. I was having to open the throttle blades to get enough air because it would dump too much fuel. Now I just crank and it fires right up. And of course by cold start I mean our sissy bay area cold mornings.

Interesting. I feel like it's definitely not super accurate. I have two gauges and theYreka saying different things. The FiTech is definitely under what I think it should be.

I switched over to working on the cage again.

It's just not going to tilt like it's supposed to. This is really ****ing frustrating. Nothing about this cage has worked. Every notch, length and bend has been off by a good amount. Extremely frustrating for what I paid for this kit.

Now I can't weld up the a pillars.

What should I do? Cut the top of the cab off?

Cut holes in floor and drop it down.

Weld top bars, raise up the cage, patch floors and add spreader plates.

So far that's been the plan. At least that's how they designed the cage. Problem is that it won't drop down. It would be possible if the rear could drop down but I'm far beyond that point lol.

I do have the holes in the floor and the plates but I can only get the cage to tilde maybe an 1/8th inch. I really need a 1/4" or better. I'm wondering if I split the A pillar of the cab will I get some flexibility out of that to finish these welds...

Windshields already out.
