You're taking this all serious!

Hahaha!!

I took a few measurements before the cuts so I'll be able to put the windshield back in. Basically space the cab the thickness of the blade and it should be back to normal.

After cutting the A pillar it's just not enough flex to get the cage dealt with. So now I'm removing the rear window in preparation for cutting the back of the cab.

I found a supplier who has the sliding glass back windows for $150 and they're tinted...I may just swap that out.

I would take couple pieces of flat steel and screw it fast on each side of the cut.
Then take them off.

Then when ready to put the roof back on you just rescrew the steel back in place and it will preset your gap, ( saw blade kerf) and your ready to start tacking.

When you see guys replace the windshield header on the 1st gen blazer, some do the same thing, and put some sort of material inside to line it up/give it a little bit more rigidity, partly because there is no cab support for the winshield, it just flots up there, ecxept when connected to the top.

Pretty sure I remember sponsoredbydad putting something small and either square-ish or l channel. He has so many threads. it would take a little digging but could find it tomorrow if you just want to see pics of what he did. Not sure they would give any other insight, but just agree with what you are already thinking (putting something in there).

Took the back window out last night.

Then I put some lines on the cab to cut. A few inches above the seat belt bolt will allow me to be able to weld the cab back together.
