73 K20....crossmember time

This is the plate from beyond precise that I am using. I am not going to do the side mounts for all the reasons mentioned above. I am going to do a single fab bushing setup under the rear output. I have the optional mounting foot for the Eco, but I don't think I am going to use it.

Are you guys saying not to use the factory adaptor mount in addition to the 205 rear mount?

why this massive hunk for 1 tiny mount point .

there is kits to add a mount off the pto/side boss / or even the front output rear cover .

As an engineer dropout I would use that plate only for case strength and not a mounting solution.

Why wouldn't it be ok for a mount? No different than the other rear support mounts. Yes the main purpose is a case brace.

some will argue that those outside np205 mounts break a transmission case or an adapter when the frame flexes. Those same folks will say you want to keep all your drivetrain mounts in-line from front to back so when the frame twists it does not stress the drivetrain.

Agree thats why I clarified I am not going to use the two side mounts. I am going to add two tabs for a fab bushing style mount under the rear output.

in over 15+ years on the internet with pic after pic viewed i have seen less than 5 pics i can recall of a broken 205 case .

and as said watch how you line up the mounts from the engine to the last one . the way they flex is important if you get one the wrong way = break cause the whole system cant flex as one .

I am running the DIY4x poly engine mounts and was planning on doing a poly mount on the OE adaptor and a single poly mount under the rear output. The way I understand it is if my two rear mounts are the same material as the engine mounts, and mounted centerline I should be ok? The two rear mounts will also be on the same crossmember setup.

I’m also going to be running one of those mounts on the rear, for strength and for a rear support. Also going to mount to the bottom in line with the trans mount like @MTBLAZER89

This was good. My searching produced a lot of mixed results over the years. The mother of all doubler crossmember threads has some crazy stuff. I am going to start a new thread and tag Steve to see if he has an updated opinion.
Thanks

Tag me as well please. I’ve stuffed a couple of these Doubler threads into a sticky in the garage. It’s an open thread for all to add Doubler info as long as it’s on topic
(hopefully someone adds assembled lengths too)

Not any crazy update here but I'm slowly plugging along. Trying to figure out the last bit of the blackbox. I'll have to do some test fitting but theres some things that arent adding up and their directions are very meh. I need to take some pics to formulate a question.

I found material laying around to get started on the crossmember for the tcase. Shouldn't be too long before I get cutting and welding on that.

That tmr np205 mount I need is of course a damned Canadian piece so its half of its price just to get the damn thing here. Couldn't find any stateside so I guess I'll grab my ankles and walk backwards.

In other news I'm trying desperately to finish up this cr250r makeover...its been taking up an awful lot of my time but it's all coming to the end as I'm selling the bike soon.

I'm also waiting for an email with a start date for a new job so you could say I've been sidetracked a slight bit. I need a day off. Gonna be awful sick on my last two weeks haha!

Ok so anyone who knows nwf eco/blackbox stuff...I'm assuming these set screws thread into the other mating side of the blackbox? Theres only 3 and I got one loose in the hardware bag? Only 3 holes so maybe it's an extra? Uts weird to me because the Allen bolts attach the two pieces together as you can see by the large counterbores. Between the blackbox and eco box manual online I cant make sense of it.

I also got 5 studs instead of 6 and no nuts at all. Great. I guess that's what I get for $1900.

The black box is a little different than the Eco, I didn’t have any set screws. The long Allen heads are used as you described. Kris at NWF is pretty helpful if you give him a call. Also @Kay86K5 can probably clarify the questions you have since he has a black box too.

Yeah I think I'll call tomorrow. It's like theres a missing part 3 to their directions. Theres always that fear when you end up with an extra set screw or bolt haha
