73 K20....crossmember time

Well I got close to starting it today. Had to fool with some things but found out the fuel pump was dead. I'm a little pissed about that. It's not like it worked more then an hour. Not sure what killed it but it's totally dead. Ordered a new one and some pcv parts so I can here this thing run.

Ok. New pump i . It starts but quickly flames out after about a second or two. What would that be? The pump sounds strong. A clogged fuel filter? It had a small amount of old gas but I added stabilizer to it and put in a fresh 5 gallons. Seems like its losing fuel pressure for some reason.

Definitely look at a filter. Any way to pressure check before and after the filter?

I think the fitech will tell me what the psi is. I know it limits it at 65psi. I actually had a inline gauge but it leaked and I took it out of the system. Go figure. It was nice to hear it rumble though. Shes been asleep for 2 years.

Well I mean it wasnt too bad but who can tell when it's a something micron filter. I'm soaking it now to get some of the old fuel off.

It definitely had fuel in it the line when I took it apart, which is a good sign.

Now that I think about it the fitech unit shoots some fuel in right before it starts...which happens but maybe the injectors are working. I hope I didnt clog the injectors.

You probably didn’t clog the injectors

But I’ve never had good luck with any filter of that style. I finally bought AN/MPT fittings and added a TPI filter to mine

I was shocked at how simple it was inside for what I had to pay for it. Good thing I forgot the price. I guess I could leave it out for one start and see if it runs without it. It's got a filter on the pump.

Something tells me the injectors are squirting after the startup. I'll look down the barrel tomorrow morning. You can see the mist.

Well it's not the fuel filter. Definitely going to get an oem setup though for trail spares.

I'm not getting an rpm reading. I think maybe the unit it losing power intermittently from the key wire. This is still an hei distributor. Any ideas? I swear I had this thing running fine before I left but maybe I swapped columns because this one is tilt?
