Hey guys im new to this site so not sure if im posting in the right place. Anyways i have a 73 blazer with a 454 from the factory. I am trying to find out just how rare this truck is and how much something like this would sell for fully restored. It is the silverado trim package if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance

If it was factory it was a dealer installed item.

I had a 73. I was fortunate enough to track down the original owner in Montana. She gave me every peice of paper she ever had for that truck, unfortunately I lost all of it in a fire a while back.

No 454 was listed as an option. That was the factory option sheet that she had filled out. So it had every option that you could get and the prices.

I'm not trying to be a dick. GM did strange things sometimes. If you can provide actual proof that it was equiped like that from the factory and its dead original in good shape it could be worth alot.

Without proof ( documents from GM) proving it was factory installed its just a cool full very with a big block

I know they did it as a factory option. Im going to run the numbers on the block this weekend. I was told though by a restoration shop that if it has 3/8 fuel lines its a factory big block and it does. Also i decoded the vin and it showed that it came with a 454. Not much to go off of yet but im pretty positive its stock.

So your third digit is a Z. I believe that was the 454. Pretty cool. Restored it would be worth tons. It's insanely rare.

I know they put big blocks in some half ton trucks but never even heard of anyone having the correct vin in a Blazer.

I can tell you for a fact though that it was not listed on the option sheet for a 1973 blazer. Cause I looked at that sheet alot. First time I realized the hard top was not standerd. The soft top was.

Also in 73 there were 2 trim levels. Custom and Cheyenne. Custom was the lower level. Silverado didn't come till later

talk is cheap, pics and documentation are priceless in this case!

The 3/8" fuel line may be a good indicator on a car but all of there trucks have 3/8" feed lines (5/16" was a return).

Is your Blazer a 2wd or 4x4?

I know 2wd trucks were optioned 454's but not 4x4's until after 1980.

No k5,k10 or k20 ever came with a 454 "factory". If you are set on proving it, show us the rpo decal, engine code numbers off the pass front of the block behind the alternator and the vin otherwise it was installed post factory. 1973 was in the thick of epa regs, you couldn't just order whatever anymore.

I think it was on here someone posted an early 70s half ton stepside. He posted the rpo sheet and by dang if it wasn't right there. I'll see if I can find it.

you could get a c10 (I had a 79) not a K10 or K20 or hell a K30 till the 80s.

Oh yep your right 2 wd not 4 wd. Sorry. For the longest time I didn't believe the big block half ton trucks. But I have seen documented proof.

Most definitely not factory, sorry to burst your bubble.

Silverado was not a trim level yet in 1973. I believe 1975 was the first year for Silverado trim level on a pickup, and a few years later on the Blazer. The Blazer never had as many trim level options as the pickup did. In face the highest trim level on a pickup in 1975 was Cheyenne Super. It makes a really long fender badge.

I think it was swapped in. I've seen 2wd 1/2 tons, but I don't think they came factory 4wd 1/2 ton.
