Maybe a fusible link got stressed during the trans swap and was kinda broken, and the sudden influx of starter draw popped it?

I was looking at this.
Looks like Aaron replaced the fusible links with regular wires and an inline fuse and both fuses look good.

So I tore down the dash and the steering column trying to trace the problem and stumbled on the calibration module for the Dakota digital gear indicator and was able to calibrate the setup and it now reads correctly.
But I could not find anything wrong there.
So back to the battery and followed the wires, first was this, 30a fuses, then on the firewall the relay and then I noticed the wires from the relay go to something, I opened the connector and sure enough another fuse 20a on one and 15a on the other, both blown.
One goes to ignition and the other to the fuel pump.
Replacing them cured the problem.

So now that I can start it, I tried to adjust the neutral switch but no matter where I put it I can only start in park while holding the shifter all the way back and pressed hard.
I will try replacing it with another and see if it changes anything.
But then on the test drive it still doesn't shift. Called the rebuilder and he said to bring it to him and he will figure it out.
Either cable adjustment or bad governor
So tomorrow I drop it off.
Once it cools off in the afternoon I will tackle a few minor issues I still have

So had it at the transmission shop and called every day and after a week I had a heart attack.
A week later I called him and he said my friend came and picked it up. :flipoff2:
I haven't told anyone where it is and definitely didn't tell anyone to pick it up.
He's going thru the security tape to get me a picture and I am getting the paperwork to go file a police report. I can't believe they gave him the truck without trying to confirm with me.
I actually have my doubts they are scamming me but either way I am going after them.

Something smells fishy here dude...They had no effing right to hand over the truck to anybody that wasn't you. Buddy or not. I know at our shop I won't just hand the keys over to anybody that asks. If somebody says they are picking up a "friend's" vehicle I call that person to confirm it's ok to do so.

I bet shop owner took it for some offroad fun. Why not? Car is fixed, sitting on the lot, car owner in the hospital. Why would you wait for their footage instead of filing police report very same day? At this point you have a paperwork to confirm ownership and car is gone. Not sure how waiting would be beneficial here.
They might read this forum if they happen to know so much about you.

I would assume this is a shop with insurance to cover theft like this. I’d have to go after the owner rather than fuss with the video footage.

was the bill payed? That sucks!

The bill was paid when I picked up the rebuilt transmission.
Took the truck back because it wasn't up shifting.
It was a stuck governor.
I am going to go after the shop regardless they had my number and they should have called when they got it done.
I called every day for a week to check on it until I went to the hospital.
I just need to take my paperwork and go there in the morning and call the police from there.

Recently a tire shop here in town had an H2 hummer get left by a person passing through. It lost the engine and they left it behind to get repaired and continued on their trip to Texas or somewhere. After it was fixed and waiting for the owner to get back to the area to retrieve it one of the upstanding employees sold it to someone for $1000. Dumbass got busted real fast cuz he didn't even try to cover it up at all. Hope you get your chit back. I'd bet money the shop guy is in on it and just figures oh well insurance will cover it.
