75 Blazer Project

Thank You, Thank You :D

Well i must have caught the Convertible bug. I traded a Shotgun i didnt want for this 74 Blazer from a member here at CK5. This truck has some rust issues. I really have to go thru it to find out how bad it is. Originally a Utah truck and used as a snow plow as the PO explained to me. Can anyone from Utah tell be about the Rust situation in your state?

So my plan is to rob the 74 of the parts i can use and convert it to 2wd to promote my online business but we will see. The body may be shot with Rust. Heres a pic. Might look familiar to some here.

This is the way i initially saw it. Looks alot different since i cleaned it up and put front wheels and tires on it, but its raining currently and dont have any fresh pics.

yep, when it was being parted by the PO i almost bought the dash trim piece and the gas pedal but i lucked out and found them locally. doesn't look too bad though.. unless theres alot of rust i can't see

yea i was looking on LMC today and most of the parts can be replaced. I am actually leaving right now to go inspect it so i will update later.

Small update. I removed the front axle with springs to replace them with the Front Axle on the 74 Blazer i picked up. The 74 has urethane Leaf spring bushings on it and i figure since the 74 was on the road prior to June of 08 that front axle is probably in better shape than the 75. So the swap begins.:D

Here is a side view of my Engine Crossmember. I may need to add some bracing on the angle iron attached to the frame.

I also will be ordering my Poly Body bushings and 1" lift from ORD soon. Once those arrive everything should start coming together pretty quick.

I actually sold the 78 awhile ago. Now I just have my 75 and my 74 I just picked up.

No new updates really. Cleaned out the interior this past weekend and thats pretty much it. Looks like the P.O. used adhesive in the back to hold down a carpet. So i have to do some more scraping to clean all that out but its not too much. heres some pics

also removed the Gas tank to get ready for my new Poly Bushings as well as the 1 inch body lift. Which will be ordered this week and installed next weekend.
Also finally got my Tracking number for my Front Eye Shackle Hangers from DIY4X so they should be here this weekend which means i can get the truck off the Jackstands.

It looks like your Blazer was originally Willoway Green. I had a '75 in that color about 10 years ago!

Yea ur right. Green all over. Its beter than the terd Yellow my 74 is :doah:

On another note my Front Eye Hangers from DIY4X came in tonite. Very happy:D . Painted them tonite so they need about 1 day to dry completely. Also made some new front shackles out of 3/8 Flat Stock i had laying around. THEY ARE BEEFY ;D. Anyway i will post before and after pics this weekend.:p:

Well this weekend was a busy one. Received my Front eye hangers friday and installed everything in Sunday. I also built my own heavy duty Shackles and made and welded 1/4 spacers on them to fit the springs properly. Also had to shave down my Urethane bushing about 1/4 to fit. Heres the pics.

Received my body lift yesterday, and picked up my new lengthened driveshaft today. Waiting for my Urethane body bushings as well as my Fuel sending unit i ordered from LMC. I pulled mine out today and the filter/sock was just about gone. Boy will i be busy this weekend

This morning i had to cruise to North Phoenix to pic up some doors. On Craigslist i saw a listing for Original doors off of a 74 for $100.00 so i had to pick them up. The ones on my 75 are truck doors that have been cut, and i wanted O.E. doors. I know they have later model mirrors on it but i checked the doors real good and they are O.E. looks like the P.O. added the late model mirrors. So i will take my cut doors and put them on my 74 and the good ones on my 75.

Update for this weekend includes installing the Poly bushings along with the 1 inch body lift. Also installed my driveshaft and radiator support and radiator. Ran to Auto zone and picked up my Optima battery belts and Lower Radiator hose.

Next weekends plans include installing my Fuel Tank and figuring out my Radiator issue. I didnt get the upper radiator support when i bought my Blazer so i ordered it yesterday, but my concern is that because the Radiator i have is out of a 78 it wont fit. So we will see, but she is very close to be in running and driving condition

Ran into a little problem though. The Radiator i pulled from the 78 Blazer i had is too big so i had to buy a new Radiator. Installed the new radiator and hoses as well as the Tranny lines. With the new Radiator i also need a Fan Shroud cause the one off the 78 will not fit either. So instead of finally geeting her started i have to wait. So now i have to search for a Fan Shroud for a 73-75 Blazer. One from LMC is $140.00 so i think i will start hitting Craigslist and all the Forum's and see what i find.

Last night i went and removed the Exhaust system form my 74 and will be installing that today on my 75. i will also be adding the coolant and tranny fluid to prepare for turning the motor over. More to come!!

and finally she runs. Actually got her started today and was able to idle nice and smooth. Have a small elecrical bug i have to work out, but she did start and run today. Just Awesome :D

Just got mine running today as well... It's a great sound regardless of how rough or smokey it is!

Great work!

I know havent updated in awhile, but took my 75 out for its first ever trip offroad. This past weekend i took a trip up the backway to Crown King. Not too difficult but for a noobie on his first run with his Blazer i think it was the perfect test. Everything went great not one single problem happened on the trail. After the 23 mile trail was conquered had to drive another 40+ miles to get home. Made it home with no problems driving 65 on the highway. It was a Blast and i cant wait to take her out again.

Here r some pics.
