Planning on cutting the center section of the top and shortening it down so it just covers the cage and stops around my spare. Mainly for winter wheeling to close the cab in. Re fiberglass it back together.

Sort of, Tuesday we drove down to Rubicon springs then back up to buck island lake. Then Wednesday we drove out to loon. So about 3/4 of the trail backwards

Maybe I'm just not fond of cadillac from backing down it but the rest of the trail was a blast backwards.
Dropped and replaced the oil pan gasket today. Finally replaced the spark plugs and damn they looked bad. No leaks from the oil pan yet. Starts up much better now surprise.

Is the ignition switch issue still a problem? Or whatever the gremlin is?
So I traced that wire back and it went to the alternator. Went over to @ekajkrats house and replaced all that wiring from the alternator and it seems to be running good now with the spark plugs replaced

For sure, I'm still going to check out the wiring that runs to the starter and see how it looks. I also need to get a little wiring kit for trail repairs like @530BLAZER has.
It got pretty out of hand pretty quick. Loving it on coilovers but it's slowly or not so slowly destroying the stock frame now
Yeah I'm kind of trying to plan some frame tie ins around the suspension mounting points for when I make the leap.

I think the frame mounts are. Not 100% sure. I pretty much let my friend figure it all out

@MTBLAZER89 honestly a tube frame would be how I would/will redo it.
Onto chopping the top. It only needs to be 35" or so long. It's 71" along the sides and approx 65.5" for the top. Would you guys cut it straight across or notch it so it goes together like a puzzle? Straight across would be easy and I could use some metal to hold it together with fiberglass/goop. Or offset and metal with fiberglass/goop

I think he's making it shorter front to back, so he's wondering are straight cuts okay to remove the middle section of the top, or is it better to make it not straight across it horizontally and then mate the front and back of the top back together. That way he keeps the front lip and the rear section.
like this or the other way? straight across is probably the easiest. I really just want this for winter wheeling. With the open cab it brings the suck and water will drop right onto the back of your neck with where the current top ends. no full top because it has a truck tailgate and the exhaust exits out the back of the blazer. I drove it with the top on and no back window, not the best idea for your health.

Well if you can shorten it where it meets the cab and keep it clean I’d probably go that route. I wouldn’t want a rough cut at the back or anywhere it could come in contact with someone.

I was going to try to make it look somewhat factoryish, if it gets messed up too much i will just toss the whole thing
