75 k5 on 44's....ChrisPerry's build thread

I'll see if I can get some pictures in the next couple days. Between pulling a muscle in my back and work being so busy I haven't been interested in even looking at my blazer lately.

Little bump action?

Maybe I missed it but what gears are in your diffs? Or if anyone else knows on here you can chime up too :D

Ok, since the last update I........

Then I went to Blazer Bash again.. laid it on driver side, no damage. When we righted it I split the front bumper in half along the seam at the frame. (Can't find pictures). Took a 15 ton bottle jack and a torch to get it back into place. Braced bumper up and welded all the areas that Blazen Offroad didn't get when they built it.

Will post pics of the bracing later.

This year I did a roller cam swap looking for added bottom end torque (had to use too much throttle to get it moving, had no lower rpm control) I bought a Crane 276 roller from Chris (38377k5) and installed it advanced 2 degrees.
While changing the valve springs, I heard alot of air escaping through the exhaust. Desided that the head had to come off to check exhaust valve.
After inspecting the valves (and trying to lap them in) only 3 cylinders were sealing properly. Started to look for replacement heads.
This was Friday before Labor Day, sopposed to leave in 4 days for the Bash.
A friend of mine pulled some favors and had a shop redo my heads in less than 5 hours. Dropped them off Saturday morning at 8am picked them up at 1pm.

Had to go back to work and wasn't able to get back on the motor until Monday. Got everthing put back together and dialed in by Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday morning picked up the trailer got everything loaded and hit the road.

Utah or bust

Had a great time at the Bash motor never ran so strong. On an obstacle at 1/4 throttle or less I can get the tires spinning. No more full throttle to get moving while holding the brakes hard hoping it won't just start screaming for redline.

Now for this years issues......

Pulled the truck onto the trailer at home and while strapping it down saw a puddle of brake fluid forming on the deck under the front. Master cylinder failed and was puking out of the weep hole. Working under the hood for close to a week and not a drop, ready to leave and it does this. When I got to Moab first stop was O'Reillys new master and a quart of brake fluid. Took 30 min to install and test drive. All seems good.

First night there went on the night run, or should say drove up the long hill on the way to Hells and engine and trans got to 220. This isn't good...called it and went back to camp to figure it out. First thing was to check fluids. Oil,check. Coolant, check. Transfluid,transfluid..... doh....... bone dry. Three quarts later, it shifts better and runs cool. Okay time for some offroad play.

Day one... Area BFE hung out in the parking lot for an hour or two BSing with everyone. Then off to Greenday, we ran it backwards. Alot more fun this way.
While taking the optional loop at the top, Stephen scuffed the front corner of the ORD UAV,not to be out done I stuffed the front corner of mine......

Dont give me too much grief about the rollers......keeps the tire slashers in my neighborhood at bay.

I like the specs on that cam

So do I with 1.6 rockers and advanced a little it pulls hard from idle. So much better in my motor than the lunati 268 I had. I was amazed even when hot dogging in the dirt, I don't think I ever revved past 45-4800 rpm, didn't need to.

I tried out the bumper bracing on Pritchett winching several times. Seems like the repair works well.
Only other issue was some vapor locking after 7-8 hours of running. I'm hoping i figured that out, found the fuel line looped and it came close to the collector. Going to be adding a fuel cooler this year to just make sure.

I am wrapping up my LS swap up here in SAnta Barbara. We need to get out in the dirt. Love to see this thing
