Quad mounts for 400hp and above?

I dunno a specific number. But ya. More power control. If my dually isn't 600+ to the wheels I'll be some sad.

My 6BT is rated 180hp/420tq, is that a gross flywheel rating or SAE net rating (flywheel as installed in vehicle)?
I'm shooting for 550-600 tq gross...what would that net at the wheels...2WD auto?

I meant 600+ rwhp horse power, For my truck.

The stock ratings are fwhp. 12valves are pretty reliable at 2:1 torque to horsepower rating. So picking 300hp is not a problem really with mostly stock parts. That will net you the 600 ft lbs you're after.

Zim wow have plans changed. The diesel does make sense for a tow rig. What trans are you running? The cummins came with a 47RE? Can those be built to handle the power or are you going to adapt the 4L80E or an allison to it? I know nothing about dodge transmissions so I am just curious what the cummins guys do, I have seen adaptors for both 4L80E and Allison trannies behind cummins engines but don't know at what level they need to do that.

Heath I bought a 98 Dodge rollover truck from NC...177K on it, completely stock (and rust free, too bad it was a rollover)
I have talked with Greg Ducato (member here and trans specialist) who has given me a list of upgrades to make the 47RE live behind 600ft lbs. I will have the trans built by the guy that just swapped out my TH400 case in the Maiden for a very reasonable price....he does reasonably priced work if you bring the trans out of the vehicle.
So my plan is to put the drivetrain in the truck as is, I know it works in the Dodge (I moved it around under its own power) that way I know how it should be after the conversion....when all is well and fabrication is done, the plan is to tear the truck down for a restification rebuild.
Glad to see your back on the site!

Yes. Governor springs increase drivability. Pump gear increases reliability by keying the shaft to the gear. The adjustable gear is the only way to do that. Slipped timing is a problem. Taper fit from OEM is a cummins design flaw.

And so Luke says and so it shall be so

:D

Pretty much the only guy I am gonna a actually listen to when I swap in a cummins. Lets hope old age doesn't affect his memory

OK, Luke I got those upgrade ideas from you, so I know that is what I want to do, so let me rephrase this...I want to know if those 2 links are quality parts for my application, I'm looking to buy now.

Yah Luke spend daves money :haha::haha:

The adjustable timing gear isn't on a lot of people's upgrade lists. But it's absolutely a reliability upgrade. Pining the pump shaft to the gear is a must.

You can do a text book timing set on an engine and first drive have it slip again. I've seen it happen with my own eyes. You want to set it and forget it with a keyed gear.

Ya for sure. They look solid.

You do not need Billet keepers and retainers. Like the pacbrake link said. That's dumb. They're just selling parts. 60lb valve springs are a good idea. Nessisary if you have an engine brake or are really jacking it up. Not crucial if just kinda stock pulling a trailer around.

Ok for now going to get the gear, bump the timing to 16, the 4k springs and Ill get the Valve springs at the next teardown when I take the truck apart for resto

yep, all 6b/isb cummins are turbocharged. They never made naturals........ cause cummins knows naturally aspirated diesels are gay. and a waste of time.
