new frame isn't warranted but your right, how cool would that be! I want to replace the brake lines and might as well strip blast and paint while I have the opportunity.......but sure would be easier with the cab off too!

Are you getting rid of the ac compressor and brackets as well?

Because I have a 402 in a Blazer that needs some AC brackets.....

Martin

Not sure of the condition of the compressor, it hasn't had a belt on it since I've owned the truck, but I could be persuaded to trade them. What ya got?

Got the fenders and most everything up top disconnected.
The cruise control is up for grabs if anybody wants it....same deal, free you pay shipping.

removed valve covers to check #'s...336781 castings with Sept.17.75 and Oct.1.75 casting dates...couldn't get to the block casting date to see how close they all were, but the VIN is stamped into the block so I'm sure its original.
took a compression test as well, looking pretty good overall....1st set of test numbers was as run condition, slightly warmed up before test, but certainly not hot to work on. 2nd set of numbers was with some oil sprayed in on top of the pistons to see if it would seal the rings anymore, negligible increase as recorded. Looks like a few are wet with oil as well, not a suprise as this engine was uning about 1 quart of 15-50 every 350mi.DSCN1895 (1024x768).jpg

I just wish I could he there wrenching with you on this project! Looks so fun!
Extra hands would be great!
Im off for a couple days so hope to make a little progress here!
Those compression numbers don't look bad considering how bad the plugs look.
I thought they looked pretty good as well, considering the oil usage.
It actually has pretty good power still.
Seems a lot of these old BBC's need guides so I'm thinking thats the case here as well.
It got sprayed good with a fogging oil at shutdown and it will sit in the shop under a bench for a spare or for some crazy reason I'm thinking it should go in the Vette????
