And to add my voice in before we really change the subject, I like the white wheels better, but it's good that way, when I put my white wheels on my crew cab dually it will look different, not like veryone elses.
And Eric, don't worry, I know what your plans were a couple of years ago, Zimm only got his now, he's just getting it done faster and it might look later like you copy him, but WE know better.:D
You still might get yours done before I do mine though.:doah:
I am still not sure which one to build though.
The Red one doesn't need much, but I think I am better off selling it and working on one of the other 2 I have since I want to do do more mods to the body, it would be a shame to do that to a rust free clean truck like that red one.:dunno:
And Zimm, if you are still looking for 16" steel rims, I have a few sets here, if we have a way to get them to ya, I will make you a good deal.

Thanks Iceman! I know Eric had his in plans already, and I sure don't mean to step on his toes, but I want my truck the way I want it, and my silver and red 85 I always thought was a great paint combo. And I think the sims' will look better with that paint scheme. I'll run this combo until I paint it next winter probably.

Wow! took me a bit of reading to catch up... IMO I like the shiny sh#t.:D

Me too Max, I gotta admit the white wheels with the current paint scheme looks pretty dam good though.

Looks real good! I don't think you can go wrong either way with the rims :waytogo:
:waytogo: I also !!

I got a broken side marker light on the rear fender...the amber one in the front...happen to find one in my box of spare lights and such, lucky there, but are the marker lights for the fenders the same as the ones on the stepsides?
there looks to be a different shape to them from the front fender side marker lights so I don't think those interchange.

found a good one:

The best thing on that year of truck is the trim... please keep it.. or replace it if it dosen`t look good enough for your tastes... if you want it to look cool keep it stock!!:thumb:

But I do like the sims!

I don`t think it takes anything away from the look of the truck, in fact I think it would look the best with them.

IMO:dunno:

I am sure the truck will only get better hte longer you own it Zim. So did you try to see if they will fit the other spot? They look the same from the picture, just opposite, like you could flip it from the other side and it would fit in the back?

Even if I simulate the trim by painting it on, I will keep all the trim to the truck, I just think it would be trick to paint it, and give a better fit also. You know these trucks weren't exactly precision with the trim install
I may just repaint the trim pieces also. I have a bunch of new trim pieces I got at a garage cleanout sale, but they are all for a 77 shortbox (yellow inlayed paint instead of black) But they are NOS pieces.

They do fit Heath, I was thinking the front lights were a different shape, more squared off, but they are the same, and this shows they are used in all locations:

I am pretty sure they are the same

appears as though functionally they are, just the lense is different:

the rear is the same lense pattern, but in red...looking in the Classic Parts catalog, the red ones on the stepside are the same as these:

Actually painting it on might not be a bad idea.

I need a new right hand side for my box. They sure bend easy.
And they are getting hard to find in good shape.

Yes they are Max....haven't found any rebops, or NOS anywhere YET.

Looking good! The side marker lights were made to be used in all positions. Keep the trim for sure! Every time I'm at a junk yard I buy good trim if I find it. Much cheaper to buy it from a junk yard and refurbish it than to buy it brand new. Plus the dually fender trim can't be bought new (to my knowledge) and is pretty hard to find. The '73-'76 trucks are my favorites, so I'm happy to hear you want to keep this one close to stock.

PS I've found that the 'Ultra Flat Black' paint from Ace Hardware (from their camouflage spray paint line) to be a great match for the factory black color in the trim. I'll try to take a post some pics later of how it looks:waytogo:

So you guys are saying I should quit ripping the trim off and throwing it in the iron pile?

Martin

Woah, woah, send it my way instead :waytogo:

And a picture as promised. The one I'm holding is the brand new trim from LMC and the others are the originals on my truck with the black re-painted.

Real nice Abram, does that paint hold up any better than the factory stuff?

I guess I'll find out, I just did that this weekend. I washed the truck and its rained since I did it, though, and it still looks good.
