76 Jimmy- Jimbo Build Thread.

ee798437.jpg

First time my truck has had a front end or headlights since probably last thanksgiving. Hell yeah boys. I need to get one o the ruffstuff optima trays. Then secure the radiator and I believe we will be back in business for a drive.

Looks good - 70's single headlight setups are my favorite frontend. I never figured out why some people do the 80's front clip conversion on them.

agreed. the only thing i am gonna do is build a bumper for it.i was actually suprised when i used to drive it around, the headlights on this thing are killer. like better then my DD's were.

I took a video of the engine today but photobucket mobile don't do vids. Sounds really good. Every time it runs it sounds better and cleaner then before. I'm stoked.
Need to hook up the brakes and I think I'm good forba test drive. Come a long way.

Also. The truck had dual batts before, and was set up with the stock battery tray on the drivers side. Does anyone want it? Throw an offer.
Let me know.

Thanks-

So it looks like we might be giving up on the old stinky.
Finally getting the engine sounding good. Throw it into reverse to move it and .... Nothing.
WTF. So I guess the tranny is toast too. Wifey said enough is enough. Looks like she may be just buying me a truck that runs and jimbo will get the trip to the farm. Unless I can hide it somewhere and fix it later on

WHAT?!?!?!
I call foul
easier solution, hide the woman until you finish it
or drive it in a manner that you'll never need reverse

On the plus side. Found a newer k5 in good condition. Has 3/4 ton axles. 350/350. H1's with 37s. Clean and drivable with same engine setup as what I did in mine for under $2k. Should be buying it Wednesday. Score. Think I'll pillage the doors and few other things for some halfdoors and some of my engine pieces before I sell the Jimbo

:woot:

Can't hide her. She's the financier. But it's not just reverse. It's all gears. The linkage moves but the trannydoesnt respond. This thing needs a lot of love that I just don't have the patience for right now. I think it's still got plenty of potential just for someone with time and a place to stash it.

Giving up? The CK5 way is to keep the truck while letting lack of funds and frustration drive you crazy.

you know, if i still had my dodge i probably would bcuz that would allow me to go out and atleast wheel a lil bit. as it stands i havent had a drivable truck since about a year and change ago. i just cant take it anymore.

I feel ya on that one. Many of us are like that. Not saying I'm in that category, but mine has been down since feb/'10, dumped money into it, but time/knowledge/misc has kept it down.

Sell the truck but don't get screwed on it. Recoup the funds and sanity. Find another project down the road.

BUT, that doesn't mean you can go run off with some redheaded pegged leg women named Ilean and never visit CK5 again!!! not cool man, not cool

dude. i'd never abandon. i already paid fer the membership.
besides, the only reason i'm selling, is because tonight i'm buying an 81 k5, 14 bolt rear, 8 lug 10 bolt. 37's on h1 beadlocks. 350. .030 over with a mild cam and ported heads. i have to find a way aroudn the smog thing but i'll cross that road when i get to it. if wifey hadnt decided to buy me a new one, i'd have never let her convince me to sell this one!

Sucks to hear that. Mine sat for 10yrs. in my driveway!! I walked by it everyday! Until I found this site and also found out my wife was pregnant, Thats when It lit a fire under my ass to get this rig going again.

if i had a better driveway situation i'd think about keeping it. i still think it has potential.
