News!
The truck has been together and drivable for almost a year and a half now, and he's been running in some local (and some not so local) mud drags, and holding his own against much higher price builds, (think stuff with full cages fuel cells) though it's literally all motor for him, its essentially a stock 78 K10 with 4:10 12b and 10b, SM465/205, and a HOT 355, with 11.5:1 and spinning almost 8k.
However, our thinking is that if he's able to hold his own with the 4 speed, with an automatic, it should actually be a pretty formidable truck.
So around 10 AM we drove it into the shop, and by 11:15 we had the 4 speed and 205 out, and by lunchtime we had the TH350 separated from its 203 and mated up to another 205, and had the new flexplate on the engine.
However, things went downhill from here, that th350 absolutely refused to line up with the engine, we learned new ways to use ratchet straps and adjust the trans jack, but if one locating pin lined up, the other would be about 1/2 and inch off, and it lined up, the whole trans would be twisted at too much of an angle for the other line up. By 7:00 we were tired off it and left it there, transless. We'll get reinforcements on Monday.
Unfortunately this is the only picture I took today, I'm still learning how to use this technology.
