77 Blazer - The Beast build

Picked this 77 Blazer from NY today (I am in Philly) Factory 400ci smb. CURRENT STATUS 468 BB with 700R4 & cast iron cased NP205 Front is a Dana 60 and Rear is 14 Bolt Seems to be 4.88 geared 20" Weld Racing rims & 39.5 4" Suspension & 2" Body lift
With a little piston compression the pads went on like disc brake system came from the factory.

The steel collars that the caliper bolts go thru, are they supposed to butt up to the bracket or sit like mine... About 1/16" from the bracket?? See the last photo

The steel collars should be tight against the bracket. That’s what the bolt tightens up against.

It looks like the steel collar is touching the bracket? Is it not?

It is touching. I still need to lubricate the collars inside the rubber o-rings. Everything actually fit up very nicely.
Get some of the purple ceramic brake lube for those pins and rubbers. Stuff is greatIMG_3124.png

Front axle today. Install hubs with new bearings. Got one of the Yukon Hardcore Locking Hubs done too.

The Yukons were not too bad to install. Messy for sure. Some instructions were vague. Had some issues today with the 14 Bolt hub/Spindle nut... Worked out ok though.

Gonna get the other Yukon installed then work on the tie rod.

So apparently when putting in rear calipers you may have to shim the brackets. The passenger side was off by 1/10" and the driver side was off by about half that. The outside pad was too close to the rotor. Used four stainless steel washers to shim passenger side and ordered a set of stainless shim washers for the driver side. Ordered 0.03" and 0.025" shim washers. Used 0.055 and was able to create a gap large enough for the outside pad to fit nicely. These custom jobs are never easy.

Looks great!

Are the bolts too short? I don't see any threads protruding through, or flush at least?

The bolts are about 1-2 threads away from being flush. They should be fine...or should I have some bolt sticking out the other side?

I would play it on the safe side with your brakes and get some slightly longer bolts, at least flush minimum length.

Waiting for some bolts and clips to arrive so I started painting.

Got the gas tank (31 gallon) Sealed and primed with Epoxy. Should get 1st cost of silver tank paint tomorrow and should be done by Monday.

Got the crossover steering bar primed and painted. Also got the ORD HD tie rod primed and painted.

Probably gonna start sanding the removable back top sanded an prepped for paint.

Fingers crossed!! We go before Zoning board on Monday to get variances to build my new garage!!

Getting ready to do battle with the removable top window frame Extrusions. Got all the screws out but two on the drive side lower portion where a small steel bracket with 4 screws keeps the frame together. Pulled out my carbide bits and hope to hollow out the two broken off screw studs. Original screws were 8-32 size. Gonna increase these two to 10-32. Gonna be fun!
