77 Blazer - The Beast build

Picked this 77 Blazer from NY today (I am in Philly) Factory 400ci smb. CURRENT STATUS 468 BB with 700R4 & cast iron cased NP205 Front is a Dana 60 and Rear is 14 Bolt Seems to be 4.88 geared 20" Weld Racing rims & 39.5 4" Suspension & 2" Body lift
I'll send you a picture when I get home. I'm pretty sure the area in that picture that shows rust through is solid on my K5. I have a little bit of rust on the front of it near where the brake booster goes which is common on all square bodies.
Thanks, they make patch panels for the bottom half, but not for the top. I'd be interested if yours looks solid or at least better than mine cause it will save me some fabrication

90% sure it's solid. I could cut it off above where the flange is located that is welded to the top section that goes across the front of the windshield.

i don't want to create a huge headache for you but i will pay top dollar for the cowl plus shipping. i also have upper firewall issues so while your taking pictures...?

Ok, here is the upper Cowl. It feels solid. Some rust. Near the top but I pressed on it with a screwdriver and it didnt budge.

Send me pics of. What else you need.

This section of the firewall. Just need the sections that are rusted through for patch panels but the whole section would work whichever is easier. That drivers side cowl looks good. Thanks for posting those. It may be kind of labor intensive to cut the cowl and firewall out. If you don't mind doing it, name your price and I'll pay shipping. No hurry, it'll be awhile before I get to that area. Pm me if you're OK with that

That is friggin amazing!
You are doing something that I have never imagined!

And I bet that people are driving by and shocked as hell!!!

:saweet:

Photos from around the frame.

Any issues stand out except for the body mounts that are rotted. I need new body mount brackets for the front mounts (under front seats)

The transmission came in today. BRAND SPANKING NEW 4L85e. No core so I guess I get to keep the case too.

Love that new Transmission smell!

The transmission case still has sharp and rough spots from the casting.

Here are some pics along with pics of the output shaft showing length. Removed the tailpiece also...

That's cool!
:saweet:

I believe that tail housing is worth a few dollars, don't trash it. Sell it.

Continued frame work today. Cut off the old roll cage bar sections that were welded to the driver side. Also removed the forward cab body mount. Planning to order new ones from LMC. Cutting the rivets sucked. Is there a preferred method to this? I have alot of these rivets to cut. Also removed the PSC steering ram and did some rust removal with my new needle scaler. Really great tool even if it's a little loud.

Could not have removed the rivets today without my Big Nasty air hammer!

I like to cut an X in the rivet head first then knock it off with an air chisel then switch to the round punch bit and air hammer the rest of the rivet out.
